  1. 1. Cluster Observations and Theoretical Explanations of Broadband Waves in the Auroral Region

    Author : Marie Backrud; Jan-Erik Wahlund; Mats André; David Knudsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space and plasma physics; ion acoustic waves; auroral region; anomalous resistivity; Cluster; Rymd- och plasmafysik; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Abstract : Broadband extremely low-frequency wave emissions below the ion plasma frequency have been observed by a number of spacecraft and rockets on auroral field lines. The importance of these broadband emissions for transverse ion heating and electron acceleration in the auroral regions is now reasonably well established. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ellipsometric studies of SiC in the infrared, visual and ultraviolet spectral region

    Author : O. P. Alexander Lindquist; Stergios Logothetidis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Spectroscopic ellipsometry has been used to determine the dielectric function of the most common polytypes, 3C, 4H and 6H, of SiC and also of some related materials. Measurements have been performed in the infrared, visible and ultraviolet energy region. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quantum mechanical studies of ionization and electron transfer in diatomic systems : O2 and H+ + H-

    Author : Michael Stenrup; Hans Ågren; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract :   The present thesis is based upon two papers concerning the core-valence double onization of molecular oxygen and mutual neutralization of H+ and H- ions at low collision energies. The former of these processes has been studied for the first time using a magnetic bottle time-of-ight electron coincidence spectrometer in combination with ab initio electronic structure calculations. 4. 4. Formation and fragmentation dynamics of superexcited molecules

    Author : Ken Yoshiki Franzén; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : A series of experimental studies on superexcited smallmolecules have been performed giving new information on theformation and fragmentation dynamics of small superexcitedmolecules. Highly monochromatized synchrotron radiation hasbeen applied in the 5-30 eV energy region, corresponding tovalence shell excitation, and in the 60-600 eV region,corresponding to core shell excitation, to reach these neutralstates above the ionization potential. 5. 5. Gas phase molecular relaxation probed by synchrotron radiation experiments

    Author : Jaume Rius i Riu; KTH; []
    Keywords : Molecular relaxation; synchrotron radiation; dispersed fluorescence; photoelectron spectroscopy; energy resolved electron ion coincidence technique;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental studies of gas phasemolecular relaxation after excitation with synchrotron photonsin the 15-35 eV and in the 70-350 eV regions.In the 15-35 eV region, molecular relaxation by neutraldissociation processes and nonFranck-Condon effects in N2 and O2 molecules have beenstudied by means of dispersed fluorescence and photoelectronspectroscopy experimental techniques, respectively.
