1. Thermal Modelling of the Caledonian Basin, Scandinavia and a Northern North Sea Profile
Abstract : The reason for the registered high paleotemperatures of the Scandinavian Alum Shale was investigated by heat flow modelling constrained by vitrinite-like reflectance. The behaviour of the lithosphere under a load was modelled and the paleotemperatures were explained by burial of the Alum Shale in a foreland basin, developing during the Caledonian orogeny. 2. Robust and Durable Vacuum Insulation Technology for Buildings
Abstract : Today’s buildings are responsible for 40% of the world’s energy use and also a substantial share of the Global Warming Potential (GWP). In Sweden, about 21% of the energy use can be related to the heat losses through the climatic envelope. READ MORE

3. Thermal response tests : influence of convective flow in groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger
Abstract : The main objective of this doctorial thesis was to investigate how thermally induced movements in the groundwater (natural convective flow) may influence the heat transport in borehole and surrounding bedrock in a groundwater filled borehole heat exchanger system. The purpose was also to determine if thermal response tests could be used to detect the convective influence and the effect on evaluated heat transfer parameters, effective bedrock thermal conductivity and borehole thermal resistance. 4. Thermal response test : method development and evaluation
Abstract : Since the first introduction of thermal response tests with mobile measurement devices in Sweden and USA in 1995, the method has developed and spread in North America and Europe. Thermal response tests have so far been used primarily for in situ determination of design data for BHE (borehole heat exchanger) systems, but also for evaluation of grout material, heat exchanger types and groundwater effects. 5. Functional Fibers for Biomedical and Thermal Management Applications
Abstract : This thesis explores the integration of electrospun polymeric structures in two fields; fibrous scaffolds as cell culture substrates for biomedical applications and fiber carrier networks in metal matrix polymer composites as thermal interface materials in microsystems. Electrospinning has been found to carry great potential for a range of future biomedical engineering applications. READ MORE
