  1. 6. Opening the Black Box of Community-Based Injury Prevention Programmes : Towards Improved Understanding of Factors that Influence Programme Effectiveness

    Author : Per Nilsen; Kent Lindqvist; Lennart Nordenfelt; Toomas Timpka; Gunnar Tellnes; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Community-based; injury prevention; programmes; evaluation; effectiveness; Samhällsbaserad; skadeprevention; program; utvärdering; effektivitet; Public health science; Folkhälsovetenskap;

    Abstract : Despite wide application of community-based programmes to prevent injuries and promote health over the last 25 years, there is a paucity of evaluations from which to obtain evidence regarding the effectiveness and critical factors contributing to achieving effectiveness of these programmes. Research on community-based injury prevention programmes thus far has been driven by the question “does it work?” However, merely establishing whether a programme works or not provides insufficient information to generate new knowledge about these programmes. 2. 7. Improving the efficiency of eigenvector-related computations

    Author : Angelika Beatrix Schwarz; Lars Karlsson; Bo Kågström; Carl Christian Kjelgaard Mikkelsen; Miroslav Tůma; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; high-performance computing; standard non-symmetric eigenvalue problem; triangular Sylvester equation; tiled algorithms; task parallelism;

    Abstract : An effective strategy in dense linear algebra is the design of algorithms as tiled algorithms. Tiled algorithms that express the bulk of the computation as matrix-matrix operations (level-3 BLAS) have proven successful in achieving high performance on cache-based architectures. READ MORE

  3. 8. Validating User Engagement and Effectiveness of Training Simulations : A mixed-methods approach informed by embodied cognition and psychophysiological measures

    Author : Hiran B. Ekanayake; Robert Ramberg; Tom Ziemke; Per Backlund; Kamalanath Priyantha Hewagamage; Craig Lindley; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Simulation-based training has gained widespread attention recently as a response to drawbacks associated with traditional training approaches, such as high training costs (instructors, equipment, etc.), high risks (e.g. pilot training), and ethical issues (e. READ MORE

  4. 9. Towards systematic improvement work in project-based organizations : An efficiency and effectiveness perspective

    Author : Erik Sundqvist; Diana Chronéer; Fredrik Backlund; Tina Karrbom Gustavsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Project Management; Project-based organization; Efficiency; Effectiveness; Improvement; Kvalitetsteknik; Quality Technology Management;

    Abstract : Project-based organizations (PBOs) have adopted projects as a primary tool for carrying out most of their operations. By doing so, the PBO operates mainly on two organizational levels, the project level and the organizational level. READ MORE

  5. 10. Internet-based interventions for loneliness : Efficacy and latent psychopathological profiles of treatment seekers

    Author : Anton Käll; Gerhard Andersson; Roz Shafran; Claudi Bockting; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Loneliness is an adverse emotional reaction thought to stem from an unwanted and impoverished social situation. Though it commonly makes brief appearances across the lifespan for most people, it has received increasing attention as a factor relevant to somatic and psychological well-being when assuming a more chronic form.
