  1. 1. Development of Nanostructured Tungsten Based Composites for Energy Applications

    Author : Mazher Ahmed Yar; Mamoun Muhammed; Per-Olov Käll; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tungsten; Nano-tungsten; ODS tungsten; W-La2O3; W-Y2O3; SPS; Plasma-facing materials; Armour material; fusion material;

    Abstract : Tungsten (W) based materials can be used in fusion reactors due to several advantages. Different fabrication routes can be applied to develop tungsten materials with intended microstructure and properties for specific application including nanostructured grades. READ MORE

  2. 2. Computational Material Design : Diluted Magnetic Semiconductors for Spintronics

    Author : Lunmei Huang; Rajeev Ahuja; Walter Temmerman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Density functional theory; Diluted magnetic semiconductor; Ferromagnetism; Defect; Phase transition; High pressure; Thermal elastic constant; Fysik;

    Abstract : The present thesis deals with the application of ab-initio electronic structure calculations based on density functional theory for material design.The correlation between magnetic properties and electronic structures has been investigated in detail for diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS), which have promising application for spintronics devices. 3. 3. Shear Fracture and Delamination in Packaging Materials : A study of Experimental Methods and Simulation Techniques

    Author : Md. Shafiqul Islam; Sharon Kao-Walter; Christian Johansson; Johan Tryding; Blekinge Institute of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Package opening; Shear test specimen; Stress intensity factor; Finite Element simulation; Scanning electron microscopy; Polymers; Interlaminar shear delamination;

    Abstract : Packages are the means of preservation, distribution and convenience of use for food, medicine and other consumer products. Package opening is becoming complicated in many cases because of cutting cost in design and production of opening techniques. READ MORE

  4. 4. Transmission of waves through elastic and viscoelastic junctions

    Author : Tomas Nygren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials science; Wave; elastic; viscoelastic; extensional; characteristic impedance; junction; transmission; reflection; dissipation; optimisation; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Solid Mechanics; hållfasthetslära;

    Abstract : Transmission of extensional waves through elastic and viscoelastic junctions between elastic and collinear bars have been studied theoretically and experimentally. The models used can be interpreted also for other types of waves (e.g. dilatational waves, shear waves, electromagnetic waves) and systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Material migration in tokamaks : Erosion-deposition patterns and transport processes

    Author : Armin Weckmann; Marek Rubel; Rudolf Neu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEXTOR; fusion; plasma physics; transport; migration; tracers; tokamak; limiter; divertor; high-Z; ion beam analysis; Rutherford backscattering; Nuclear reaction analysis; Elastic recoil detection analysis; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Controlled thermonuclear fusion may become an attractive future electrical power source. The most promising of all fusion machine concepts is called a tokamak. The fuel, a plasma made of deuterium and tritium, must be confined to enable the fusion process. It is also necessary to protect the wall of tokamaks from erosion by the hot plasma. READ MORE
