6. Distributed Topology Inference for Power System Applications : Algorithms and architectures utilising industry standards
Abstract : The electrical transmission and distribution system is undergoing unprecedented changes to meet the need for a carbon emission-free global energy system. An expected increase in the portion of end-user energy use in the form of electricity and need to integrate renewable energy sources into the power grid on a large scale require major changes in how power grids are operated and controlled. 7. Transmission Electron Microscopy of Semiconductor Nanowires
Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are studied by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) based methods in this work. In the first section, the growth mechanism of gallium arsenide nanowires grown by chemical beam epitaxy is investigated. The nanowires are epitaxially grown from a gallium arsenide substrate by using gold seed particles as catalysts. READ MORE

8. Coordinated MultiPoint Transmission with Incomplete Information
Abstract : The demand for higher data rates and efficient use of various resources has been an unquenchable thirst across different generations of cellular systems, and it continues to be so. Aggressive reuse of frequency resources in cellular systems gives rise to intercell interference which severely affects the data rate of users at the cell-edge. READ MORE

9. Thermally stable electrical contacts to 6H silicon carbide
Abstract : Silicon Carbide (SiC) are at present being developed for use in high temperature (≥ 500◦C) and high-power environments under which conventional semiconductors can hardly perform. Thermally stable electrical contacts are essential to the ability of SiC to function under such extreme conditions. READ MORE

10. Electromagnetic Interference in Distributed Outdoor Electrical Systems, with an Emphasis on Lightning Interaction with Electrified Railway Network
Abstract : This thesis deals with the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) problems of distributed electrical networks, especially that caused by lightning to electrified railway. Lightning transients were found to damage important devices that control train movements, causing traffic stoppage and delays. READ MORE
