  1. 1. Acupuncture in reproductive medicine. Applications in human assisted reproduction and aspects of clinical and experimental neuroendocrinology

    Author : Elisabet Stener-Victorin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; electro-acupuncture; blood flow impedance; circulation; uterine artery; in-vitro fertilization; oocyte aspiration; polycystic ovary syndrome; experimentally induced PCO; anovulation; gonadotropins; steroids; neuropeptides; b-endorphin; nerve growth factor; corticotropin-releasing factor.;

    Abstract : The use of acupuncture in the area of reproductive medicine is relatively new, and it has been rather poorly investigated in the past. When muscle afferents are stimulated by acupuncture in somatic segments related to the innervation of the ovaries and the uterus, functional changes occur in the neural substrate that may influence reproductive function and result in peripheral, segmental and central effects. 2. 2. Rolandic Epilepsy : A Neuroradiological, Neuropsychological and Oromotor Study

    Author : Staffan Lundberg; Orvar Eeg-Olofsson; Raili Raininko; Ulrich Stephani; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pediatrics; rolandic epilepsy; children; idiopathic focal epilepsy; magnetic resonance imaging; proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy; cognition; neuropsychology; oromotor performance; dichotic listening; hippocampus; classification; Pediatrik; Paediatric medicine; Pediatrisk medicin;

    Abstract : Rolandic epilepsy (RE) is the most common focal epilepsy syndrome in the pediatric age group with an onset between 3 and 13 years. The syndrome is defined by electro-clinically typical features and has been considered benign according to seizure remission before the age of 16 years. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance for Diffusion Imaging Development and evaluation of spin-echo-based pulse sequences for in vivo studies of water self-diffusion

    Author : Sara Brockstedt; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; perfusion fraction; electrocardiographic triggering; segmented EPI SEPI ; echo-planar imaging EPI ; fast spin-echo FSE ; spin-echo SE ; navigator echoes; phase corrections; diffusion; Magnetic resonance; MRI; ischaemic stroke; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Abstract : The interest in diffusion imaging with nuclear magnetic resonance techniques has increased during the last few years. The main reason is the possibility of early diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke, at a time when conventional MR techniques and computerised tomography fail. READ MORE

  5. 5. Hearing Preservation CI Surgery and Hybrid Hearing : From Anatomical Aspects to Patient Satisfaction

    Author : Elsa Erixon; Helge Rask-Andersen; Claes Möller; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anatomic variations; human cochlea; cochlear implantation; EAS; electro-acoustic stimulation; residual hearing; partial deafness; IOI-HA; EQ-5D; Oto-Rhino-Laryngology; Oto-rhino-laryngologi;

    Abstract : A common cause of profound deafness is hair cell dysfunction in the cochlea. Cochlear implants (CI) bypass the hair cells via an electrode and stimulate the cochlear nerve directly. READ MORE
