  1. 1. Early Risk Stratification, Treatment and Outcome in ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Erik Björklund; Uppsala universitet.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute myocardial infarction; Thrombolysis; Troponin; Electrocardiography; Natriuretic peptide; Prognosis; Prehospital thrombolysis; Treatment delay; Mortality; Registry; Clinical trial; Medicin; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : We evaluated, in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with thrombolytics, admission Troponin T (tnT), ST-segment resolution and admission N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) for early risk stratification as well as time delays and outcome in real life patients according to prehospital or in-hospital thrombolytic treatment. Also, baseline characteristics, treatments and outcome in patients enrolled in the ASSENT-2 trial in Sweden and in patients not enrolled were evaluated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Prognostic Factors in First-Episode Schizophrenia Five-year Outcome of Symptoms, Function and Obesity

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Robert Bodén; Uppsala universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; First-episode; psychosis; schizophrenia; community mental health services; remission; functional outcome; biochemistry; obesity; weight-gain; prediction; autonomic balance; electrocardiography; MEDICINE Psychiatry; MEDICIN Psykiatri; Psychiatry; Psykiatri;

    Abstract : Our knowledge of prognostic factors and optimal treatment organisation in schizophrenia is incomplete. The disparity of outcome measures used has been a major obstacle for research. Increasing evidence has shown that schizophrenia is associated with increased cardiovascular mortality, development of obesity and autonomic nervous system imbalance. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electrical remodeling in arial fibrillation - assessment using surface electrocardiograms, prognostic implications and potential reversal

    University dissertation from Department of Cardiology, Clinical sciences, Lund University

    Author : Andreas Bollmann; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; electrocardiography; stroke; biomarkers;

    Abstract : The fibrillatory rate of the surface ECG during atrial fibrillation (AF) has been suggested for quantification of the individual atrial remodeling, to monitor interventions and to predict the response to different therapies. In this dissertation, the relation between fibrillatory rate of the surface ECG and (1) clinical and echocardiographic variables, (2) the outcome of cardioversion, (3) circulating markers of inflammation and hemostasis, (4) the risk of left atrial thrombus formation, (5) the risk of stroke, and (6) the effects of candesartan on the fibrillatory rate were investigated in human persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). 4. 4. Exploration of Supraventricular Conduction with respect to Atrial Fibrillation. Methodological Aspects on Selected Techniques

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Jonas Carlson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Signal processing; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Cardiovascular system; Correlation Function Analysis; Transformation; Modeling; P wave Morphology; Signal; Conduction; Human; Atrial Fibrillation; Signalbehandling; Electrocardiography;

    Abstract : Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia that demands medical attention. Computer-based detailed analysis of cardiac electrical signals from healthy subjects and patients with a history of atrial fibrillation has become an important tool in the further clarification of this disease. Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Vid blodbrist till en del av hjärtmuskeln, t.ex. vid ett stopp i ett av hjärtats kranskärl, kommer delar av hjärtmuskeln att vara utsatt för risk att drabbas av infarkt. Hjärtinfarkt definieras som döda hjärtmuskelceller. READ MORE
