    Author : Marcus Johansen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; lithium insertion; atom probe tomography; synchrotron hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; energy storage; carbon fibres; Auger electron spectroscopy; microstructure; heteroatoms; multifunctional composites;

    Abstract : Carbon fibres are key constituents of structural batteries, in which electrochemical energy storage and mechanical load bearing are merged in one multifunctional device. Here carbon fibres simultaneously act as structural reinforcement by carrying load and as battery electrode by hosting lithium (Li)-ions in its microstructure. READ MORE

  3. 3. Materials Design for Paper Electrodes : A Papermaking Perspective on Electrode Fabrication

    Author : Patrik Isacsson; Isak Engquist; Magnus Berggren; Nadège Reverdy-Bruas; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Papermaking; Electrodes; Lignin; Nanocarbons; PEDOT:PSS;

    Abstract : The electrification and digitalization of our society has propelled the demand for energy storage solutions. High-end technologies have been developed to satisfy the requirements of demanding applications, such as electromobility and portable consumer electronics, which also increasingly find markets for less demanding applications. 4. 4. Nanostructured Catalysts and Electrode Materials for PEM Fuel Cells

    Author : Kjell Wikander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; PEMFC; mesoporous; alkylthiol; alkylamine; carbon; microemulsion; Fuel cell; surfactants; nanoparticles; electron microscopy; Pt; nanocasting; silica; cathode; phase transfer method; oxygen reduction;

    Abstract : The Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) is a promising energy converting technology for powering automotives and electrical equipment using hydrogen gas as fuel and producing water as the only exhaust. The active carbon-supported platinum catalyst present in the electrodes limits the maximum power generation in state-of-the-art PEMFCs due to platinum’s poor activity for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) taking place at the cathode.
