  1. 1. Exploring cellulose as a biomacromolecule for enhanced battery metal ion recovery/recycling

    Author : Billy W. Hoogendoorn; Richard Olsson; Yuanyuan Li; Mikael S. Hedenqvist; Aji Mathew; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biomacromolecules; Nanocellulose; metal oxide nanoparticle synthesis; electrodeposition; battery recycling; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : The research focused on the effects of integrating nanocellulose in the solidification of metal ions into metal oxide particles or metallic electrodeposits.  Firstly, the cellulose was isolated as highly crystalline ca. 15-25 nm thick and 500 nm long fibers from bacterial cellulose using acid hydrolysis and had a negative surface charge. 2. 2. Electrochemically nanostructured electrodes for Li-ion microbatteries

    Author : David Rehnlund; Leif Nyholm; Reiner Lomoth; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electrodeposition; 3D; Li-ion microbatteries; thin films;

    Abstract : Electrodeposition is a promising technique for fabricating complex nanostructures and coating these with suitable thin films of active materials. The research presented in this thesis aims at the development of new electro- chemical methods for the synthesis of nanostructured electrodes suitable for Li-ion microbatteries. READ MORE

  3. 3. Advanced patterning and processing for III-V nanowire device fabrication

    Author : Reza Jafari Jam; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanowires NWs ; Electrodeposition; Template-assisted growth; Substrate re-use; Sacrificial layer; Fysicumarkivet A:2020:Jafari Jam;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires are widely considered as promising candidates for next generations of electronics and optoelectronics. Gold seed particles have so far been recognized as the most important catalyst for growth of nanowires. READ MORE

  4. 4. Engineering nanomaterials with enhanced functionality

    Author : Shanghua Li; Mamoun Muhammed; Saad Elraghy; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PMMA-ZnO; nanocomposite; hybrid material; in situ sol-gel polymerization; quantum dots; UV-shielding; Nanostructured surface; Pool boiling; Heat transfer coefficient; Bubble nucleation; Enhanced boiling; dendritic branch; Electrodeposition; Nanoengineering; Materials chemistry; Materialkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the engineering of novel nanomaterials, particularly nanocomposites and nanostructured surfaces with enhanced functionalities. The study includes two parts; in the first part, an in situ sol-gel polymerization approach is used for the synthesis of polymer-inorganic hybrid material and its exceptional transparent UV-shielding effect has been investigated. 5. 5. Characterization of Electrodeposited Fe-based Metallic Coatings: Toward a Sustainable Approach

    Author : Antonio Mulone; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrodeposition; structural characterization; coatings; electrodeposited tin; iron alloys;

    Abstract : Electrodeposition has rapidly grown in the last 50 years and it has been applied to deposit metals and alloys with complex shapes or to produce fully dense nanostructures and amorphous coatings. Thanks to the achieved improved properties of the electrodeposited materials, electrodeposition has been applied in a wide set of applications including protective coatings, and magnetic and electronic applications.
