  1. 1. Heterogeneous 3D Integration and Packaging Technologies for Nano-Electromechanical Systems

    Author : Simon J. Bleiker; Frank Niklaus; Gary K. Fedder; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nano-electromechanical systems NEMS ; Micro-electromechanical systems MEMS ; heterogeneous 3D integration; CMOS integration; Morethan- Moore MtM ; adhesive wafer bonding; NEM switch; FPGA; contact reliability; hermetic vacuum packaging; Cu low-temperature welding; through silicon vias TSVs ; magnetic self-assembly;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional (3D) integration of micro- and nano-electromechanical systems (MEMS/NEMS) with integrated circuits (ICs) is an emerging technology that offers great advantages over conventional state-of-the-art microelectronics. MEMS and NEMS are most commonly employed as sensor and actuator components that enable a vast array of functionalities typically not attainable by conventional ICs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Myocardial electromechanical function in long QT syndrome

    Author : Dafni Charisopoulou; Michael Y. Henein; Annika Rydberg; Anders Jonzon; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long QT syndrome; stress-echocardiography; left ventricular filling; mechanical dispersion; diastolic myocardial function; exercise; arrhythmia; electromechanical window; speckle-tracking echocardiography; myocardial relaxation sequence.; kardiologi; Cardiology; cardiovascular disease; hjärt- och kärlforskning;

    Abstract : AIM: The aim of this thesis is to assess, in LQTS and according to genotype, the myocardial electromechanical (EM) function response to exercise, its relation to symptoms and its response to b-blocker therapy. To achieve this aim, we conducted 4 studies with the following specific objectives: i. READ MORE

  3. 3. Electromechanics of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines

    Author : Morgan Rossander; Sandra Eriksson; Hans Bernhoff; Daniel Karlsson; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Wind power is an established mean of clean energy production and the modern horizontal axis wind turbine has become a common sight. The need for maintenance is high and future wind turbines may need to be improved to enable more remote and offshore locations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electromechanical Interactions in Shuttle Systems and Carbon Nanotube Relays

    Author : Tomas Nord; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coulomb blockade; carbon nanotubes; memory device; nanorelay; single electron tunneling; van der Waals forces; NEMS; shuttle transport; mesoscopic; nanoelectromechanical systems;

    Abstract : In this thesis we theoretically investigate two kinds of nanoscale systems where there is a strong electromechanical coupling, i.e. an intricate relation between the Coulomb forces that can appear in these systems and the displacements of parts of the systems that they cause.
