1. Surface integrity on post processed alloy 718 after nonconventional machining
Abstract : There is a strong industrial driving force to find alternative production technologies in order to make the production of aero engine components of superalloys even more efficient than it is today. Introducing new and nonconventional machining technologies allows taking a giant leap to increase the material removal rate and thereby drastically increase the productivity. READ MORE

2. Microstructural properties of some oxide thin films studied by X-ray diffraction and extended X-ray absorption fine structure
Abstract : The microstructure of some high-temperature superconductorrelated oxide thin films was studied by X-ray Diffraction (XRD)and Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS)techniques. A general one-dimensional kinematic x-raydiffraction model was further developed to quantitativelyanalyze the structural properties of complex layered films. READ MORE

3. Lithium intercalation in tin oxide films : Physics and electrochemistry
Abstract : Tin oxide films were made by reactive rf magnetron sputtering under conditions that led to both electronic and ionic conductivity. It was found that a high sputter pressure promoted porosity and a high charge capacity. READ MORE

4. High power impulse magnetron sputtering under industrial conditions
Abstract : In this thesis, the recent development step of magnetron sputtering, termed high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) has been studied. Compared to conventional magnetron sputtering HiPIMS provides a higher plasma density which can ionise the sputtered material. READ MORE

5. 3D Magnetic Photonic Crystals : Synthesis and Characterization
Abstract : This thesis presents the synthesis methods and the characterizations of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, silica spheres with Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded, and three dimensional magnetic photonic crystals (MPCs) prepared from the spheres. The structure, material composition, magnetic and optical properties, photonic band gaps (PBGs), as well as how these properties depend on the concentration of the magnetic nanoparticles, are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), Faraday rotation (FR) and optical spectrophotometers.
