  1. 21. Structure and dynamics in solution – the core electron perspective

    Author : Ida Josefsson; Michael Odelius; Håkan Rensmo; Valérie Vallet; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; RASSCF; molecular dynamics; x-ray spectroscopy; electrolyte solutions; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on theoretical studies of the molecular and electronic structure of solvated ions and molecules. Very detailed information of the system can be obtained from theoretical calculations, but a realistic model is dependent on an accurate computational method. READ MORE

  2. 22. Optimizing Enzyme Immobilization in Mesoporous Silica - A Spectroscopic Study of the Dynamics and Spatial Distribution of the Confined Enzymes

    Author : Pegah Sadat Nabavi Zadeh; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluorescence spectroscopy; dynamics; mesoporous silica; Immunogold staining; Transmission electron microscopy; anisotropy; microviscosity; real-time monitoring; Cy5.; Förster resonance energy transfer; Enzyme immobilization; Cy3;

    Abstract : Enzymes as biological catalysts are immobilized in porous materials to improve the enzyme activity and simplify their purification from the reaction media in biocatalytic applications. Mesoporous silica (MPS) particles are used as a promising support material for the immobilization of enzymes. READ MORE

  3. 23. Dynamics and Fluctuations in Single-Electron Tunneling Devices

    Author : Niklas Dittmann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum dot; time-dependent density-functional theory; perturbation theory; single-electron source;

    Abstract : In recent years, it has been routinely achieved to build nanoscale electronic devices, which generate current pulses carrying only a single elementary charge. Realizations of these single-electron emitters are based on time-dependently driven quantum dots, on single-electron turnstiles built from superconductor/normal-metal hybrid structures, and also on nanosystems employing Lorentzian voltage pulses or surface acoustic waves. 4. 24. Structure and Dynamics of Core-Excited Species

    Author : Oksana Travnikova; Maria Novella Piancastelli; Svante Svensson; Denis Ceolin; Pascal Lablanqui; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physics; Synchrotron radiation; X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy XPS ; X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy XAS ; Resonant Auger Spectroscopy RAS ; Auger Electron Spectroscopy AES ; Energy-Selected Auger Electron PhotoIon COincidence ES-AEPICO ; core excitation; core ionization; linear free energy relationships LFER ; molecular-field splitting; substituent effects; nuclear dynamics; isomerization; Cl2; N2O; methane derivatives; allene; acetylacetone; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have performed core-electron spectroscopy studies of gas phase molecular systems starting with smaller diatomic, continuing with triatomic and extending our research to more complex polyatomic ones. We can subdivide the results presented here into two categories: the first one focusing on electronic fine structure and effect of the chemical bonds on molecular core-levels and the other one dealing with nuclear dynamics induced by creation of a core hole. 5. 25. Attosecond Electron Wave Packet Interferences

    Author : Thomas Remetter; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Attosecond Bound Electron Wave Packet Dynamics; Attosecond Pulse Train; High-Order Harmonics; Electron Wave Packet Interferometry; Attosecond Physics;

    Abstract : Attosecond pulses offer a new route to produce temporally localized electron wave packets (EWPs) that can easily be tailored by altering the properties of the attosecond pulses. In this thesis we will present different experiments, supported by theory, where attosecond EWPs are created in presence of a strong infrared (IR) field. READ MORE
