6. Modeling of Electron Cooling : Theory, Data and Applications
Abstract : The Vlasov technique is used to model the electron cooling force. Limitations of the applicability of the method is obtained by considering the perturbations of the electron plasma. READ MORE

7. Ultrafast spin, lattice, and electron dynamics in thin metallic films : in the terahertz, near-infrared, and extreme ultraviolet regimes
Abstract : In this thesis, we studied the ultrafast spin and electron dynamics triggered by electromagnetic radiation belonging to three different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, namely terahertz, near-infrared and extreme ultraviolet. By performing pump–probe measurements, we explored the role of the lattice in ultrafast spin and electron dynamics in metallic thin films. READ MORE

8. Probing Electron Collisions in Nanostructures
Abstract : This thesis studies the role of interaction between charged particles for transport and optical properties in nanostructures. Simulations are provided for a quantitative description of the system dynamics probed by either current spectroscopy or light absorption. READ MORE

9. Protein structure dynamics and interplay : by single-particle electron microscopy
Abstract : Single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) is a method capable of obtaining information about the structural organization and dynamics of large macromolecular assemblies. In the late nineties, the method was suggested to have the potential of generating “atomic resolution” reconstructions of particles above a certain mass. READ MORE

10. Studies on high brightness electron beams for short pulses and free electron laser
Abstract : Accelerator based lightsources are one of the most powerful tools today for producing high intensity radiation at very short wavelengths. While synchrotron storage rings provide a high average brilliance in a wide wavelength range, the next generation of lightsources aim towards producing ultra-short pulses in the X-ray regime.
