    Abstract : First principle electronic structure theory is used to describe the effect of crystal binding on radiation detectors, electron transport properties, and structural damage induced by intense irradiation. A large database containing general electronic structure results to which data mining algorithms can be applied in the search for new functional materials, a case study is presented for scintillator detector materials. Abstract : In this thesis, electron transport in mesoscopic semiconductor nanostructures, in particular so-called electron billiards or quantum dots, is studied. The thesis can be divided into two areas: the linear response regime of transport, and the nonlinear response regime of transport. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electron Transport in Nanowire Quantum Devices

    Author : Henrik Nilsson; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Superconductivity; Spin-orbit coupling; the Kondo effect; the Zeeman effect; Quantum dots; Nanowire memories; Nanowire transistors; InSb; InAs; Nanowires; Electron transport; Andreev reflections; Nanowire RF-SET; Noise in nanowires;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on electron transport in semiconductor InAs/InP and InSb nanowire quantum devices. However, first the temperature dependence of classical charge transport in InSb nanowire field-effect transistors, FETs, is characterized, using InAs nanowire FETs as a reference. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electron-lattice dynamics in π-conjugated systems

    Author : Magnus Hultell (Andersson); Sven Stafström; Alessandro Troisi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; charge transport; electron-lattice dynamics; polaron; adiabatic transport; electron localization; internal conversion; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the dynamics in π-conjugated hydrocarbon systems. Due to the molecular bonding structure of these systems there exists a coupling between the electronic system and the phonons of the lattice. READ MORE
