    Abstract : Reduced independent mobility of blind and low-vision individuals (BLVIs) cause considerable societal cost, burden on relatives, and reduced quality of life for the individuals, including increased anxiety, depression symptoms, need of assistance, risk of falls, and mortality. Despite the numerous electronic travel aids proposed since at least the 1940’s, along with ever-advancing technology, the mobility issues persist. READ MORE

  2. 2. Towards Natural Control of Artificial Limbs

    Author : Max Jair Ortiz Catalan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; epimysial electrodes; robotic prostheses; sensory feedback.; real-time and simultaneous prosthetic control; neurostimulation; pattern recognition; advanced prosthetic control; neural interfaces; artificial limbs; cuff electrodes; bone-anchored prostheses; osseointegration;

    Abstract : The use of implantable electrodes has been long thought as the solution for a more natural control of artificial limbs, as these offer access to long-term stable and physiologically appropriate sources of control, as well as the possibility to elicit appropriate sensory feedback via neurostimulation. Although these ideas have been explored since the 1960’s, the lack of a long-term stable human-machine interface has prevented the utilization of even the simplest implanted electrodes in clinically viable limb prostheses. 3. 3. Predefined Headings in a Multi-professional Electronic Health Record : Professionals’ Application, Aspects of Health and Health Care and Correspondence to Legal Requirements

    Author : Annika Terner; Karin Sonnander; Helena Lindstedt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electronic health records; Headings; Patient Data Act; Health care professionals; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate predefined headings in a Swedish county council multi-professional EHR system in terms of their shared application, what aspects of health and health care they reflected, and their correspondence to legal requirements. An analysis of 3 596 predefined headings, applied to 20 398 104 occasions by eight professional groups, was conducted. READ MORE
