21. First Determination of the Electric Charge of the Top Quark and Studies of the Top Quark Pair Background to New Physics
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with experimental investigations of properties of the top quark and processes involving this particle. In the first part of the thesis, the first determination of the electric charge of the top quark is presented. READ MORE

22. Potential for B-physics measurements with a fixed-target proton-collision experiment
Abstract : HERA-B is a high-energy physics experiment at HERA. It is a fixed-target experiment with a forward spectrometer to benefit from the strong boost of beauty hadrons. The main goal of HERA-B is to detect and measure the degree of CP violation in exclusive B-decays, with emphasis on the {em golden} decay, $golden$. READ MORE

23. Measurement of the Reaction pp→ppπ+π-π0 with CELSIUS/WASA at 1.36 GeV
Abstract : A versatile detector setup prepared by the CELSIUS/WASA collaboration for exclusive studies of rare processes produced in proton and deuteron collisions with hydrogen and deuterium pellet targets is presented. For the near-threshold production of light mesons, π0 and η, the scattered beam and target particles are measured in the forward detector, while the products of the decaying mesons are registered in a central detector covering close-to-4π sr. 24. Studies of Long-Lived Supersymmetric Top Quarks and Online Monitoring of the ATLAS First Level Calorimeter Trigger
Abstract : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has recently started colliding protons at 7 TeV centre-of mass energy. Extensive searches for hitherto unobserved particles and physics processes will be made as part of an ambitious scientific programme which aims to answer some of the fundamental questions in modern physics. 25. Search for Supersymmetry with DELPHI, and preparation for ATLAS
Abstract : This thesis reports on searches for supersymmetric particles, in particular neutralinos, conducted with the DELPHI detector at the LEP accelerator at CERN. The searches were performed within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), with R-parity conserved and gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking. READ MORE
