    Author : Pat Scott; Joakim Edsjö; Lars Bergström; Jan Conrad; Dan Hooper; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dark matter; supersymmetry; gamma rays; dwarf galaxies; stellar evolution; cosmological perturbations; phase transitions; statistical techniques; Astroparticle physics; Astropartikelfysik; Astroparticle physics; Astropartikelfysik; Cosmology; Kosmologi; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik; Formation and development of stars; Stjärnors bildning och utveckling; High energy astrophysics; Högenergiastrofysik; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phenomenology of Inert Scalar and Supersymmetric Dark Matter

    Author : Erik Lundström; Joakim Edsjö; Lars Bergström; Michel Tytgat; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dark matter; inert scalars; supersymmetry; indirect detection; accelerator searches; Physics; Fysik; Astroparticle physics; Astropartikelfysik; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : While the dark matter has so far only revealed itself through the gravitational influence it exerts on its surroundings, there are good reasons to believe it is made up by WIMPs – a hypothetical class of heavy elementary particles not encompassed by the Standard Model of particle physics. The Inert Doublet Model constitutes a simple extension of the Standard Model Higgs sector. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Dark Matter Search with AMANDA : Limits on the Muon Flux from Neutralino Annihilations at the Centre of the Earth with 1997-99 Data

    Author : Patrik Ekström; Per Olof Hulth; Lee Thompson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik;

    Abstract : The nature of the dark matter in the Universe is one of the greatest mysteries in modern astronomy. The neutralino is a nonbaryonic dark matter candidate in minimal supersymmetric extensions to the standard model of particle physics. READ MORE

  4. 4. Studies of Long-Lived Supersymmetric Top Quarks and Online Monitoring of the ATLAS First Level Calorimeter Trigger

    Author : Marianne Johansen; Sten Hellman; David Milstead; Peter Christiansen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; fundamental questions in physics; supersymmetry; stable massive particles; LHC; the ATLAS experiment; the level-1 calorimeter trigger; CERN; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has recently started colliding protons  at  7 TeV centre-of mass energy. Extensive searches for hitherto unobserved particles and physics processes will be made as part of an ambitious scientific programme which aims to answer some of the fundamental questions in modern physics. Abstract : The subject of the presented work lies in the field of experimental particle physics. The main topic is the study of e+ e− pairs from η meson decays. The data sample used in this work was collected by the WASA-at-COSY collaboration in proton-proton collisions at 1.4 GeV kinetic beam energy. READ MORE
