16. Theoretical and Experimental Studies of Polymer Adsorption and Polymer Mediated Interactions
Abstract : Polyelectrolyte adsorption and polymer mediated interactions in different colloidal polymer systems have been studied in this work. Theoretical methods and experimental techniques are combined, in order to obtain more general reliable results, as well as a deep understanding of the molecular mechanisms that are responsible for the observed behaviors. 17. Interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes: studies at model surfaces
Abstract : This thesis presents results from experimental studies of the interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes at model surfaces. The main technique used throughout the work was ellipsometry. READ MORE

18. Interaction Between Antimicrobial Peptides and Phospholipid Membranes : Effects of Peptide Length and Composition
Abstract : Due to increasing problems with bacterial resistance development, there is a growing need for identifying new types of antibiotics. Antimicrobial peptides constitute an interesting group of substances for this purpose, since they are believed to act mainly by disrupting the bacterial membrane, which is a fast and non-specific mechanism. 19. Adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles to solid surfaces
Abstract : In this study, the adsorption of nonionic amphiphiles from aqueous solutions to solid, planar surfaces is investigated using null ellipsometry. This technique allows independent measurements of the amounts adsorbed at the surface and of the mean optical thickness of the adsorbed layer. READ MORE

20. Making sense of adsorption : Attempting to explain the adsorption of histatin 5 with models, metaphors, and machines
Abstract : This thesis summarises two studies in which the main purpose was to find out how and why the amount of the protein histatin 5 that adsorbs to negatively charged surfaces changes with pH and ionic strength. Histatin 5 is an intrinsically disordered saliva protein, and in the oral environment it adsorbs to tooth enamel. READ MORE
