  1. 1. Indoor emissions and fate of flame retardants : A modelling approach

    Author : Ioannis Liagkouridis; Ian Cousins; Anna Palm Cousins; Thomas McKone; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flame retardants; BFRs; OPFRs; indoor environment; emissions; fate; modelling; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Abstract : A significant number of consumer goods and building materials act as emission sources of flame retardants (FRs) in the indoor environment. As a result, FRs have become ubiquitous indoors raising concerns about human exposure and possible health implications. READ MORE

  2. 2. Blood-Brain Barrier Transport : Investigation of Active Efflux using Positron Emission Tomography and Modelling Studies

    Author : Stina Syvänen; Margareta Hammarlund-Udenaes; Mats Bergström; Gunnar Blomquist; Jashvant Unadkat; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Pharmaceutical biosciences; pharmacokinetics; P-glycoprotein; blood-brain barrier; modelling; PET; active efflux; species differences; [11C]verapamil; drug development; Farmaceutisk biovetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the transport of exogenous molecules across the blood-brain barrier (BBB), focusing on active efflux, using positron emission tomography (PET), computer simulation and modelling. P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibition was studied using [11C]verapamil and [11C]hydroxyurea was investigated as a new marker for active efflux transport. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling of cavity partial discharges at variable applied frequency

    Author : Cecilia Forssén; Roland Eriksson; Hans Edin; Peter H.F. Morshuis; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; partial discharges; measurements; modelling; variable frequency; cavities; disc-shaped; polycarbonate; Electric power engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Abstract : The presence of partial discharges (PD) in high voltage components is generally a sign of defects and degradation in the electrical insulation. To diagnose the condition of high voltage insulation, PD measurements is commonly used. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dispersion modelling of volcanic emissions

    Author : Adam Dingwell; Rutgersson Anna; David Simpson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dispersion modelling; atmospheric; volcano; gas emissions; volcanic ash; FLEXPART; FLEXPART-WRF; Spridningsmodellering; atmosfär; vulkan; gasutsläpp; vulkanaska; FLEXPART; FLEXPART-WRF; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : Gases and particles released by volcanoes pose a serious hazard to humans and society. Emissions can be transported over long distances before being reduced to harmless concentrations. Knowing which areas are, or will be, exposed to volcanic emissions is an important part inreducing the impact on human health and society. READ MORE

  5. 5. III-V Nanowire Array Solar Cells: Optical and Electrical Modelling

    Author : Yang Chen; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Semiconductor solar cell; nanowire array; modelling; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Chen;

    Abstract : This thesis describes optical and electrical modelling of vertically oriented III-V semiconductor nanowire array solar cells (NWASCs).In the optical studies, three-dimensional electromagnetic modelling was carried out with the scattering matrix method and the finite element method.
