  1. 16. Essays on Environmental Economics

    Author : Erika Budh; Lars Hultkrantz; Chuan-Zhong Li; Ing-Marie Gren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Environmental economics; public good; public bad; negative externality; voluntary contribution; experiment; envionmental objectives; multiple emission reductions; sub-optimization; linear programming; multivariate stochastic control; emission trading; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi; nationalekonomi; Economics;

    Abstract : This dissertation consists of four self-contained essays.Essay IThis essay reports on an experimental study of how voluntary contributions in a public good game are affected by framing. In the public good context, average wealth improves from contributions. In the defensive contexts, the voluntary contributions prevent reductions in average wealth. READ MORE

  2. 17. Organic Azides : Functional Molecules and Materials

    Author : Giampiero Proietti; Peter Dinér; Per I. Arvidsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; perfluorinated Aromatic Azide; Photoactivatable; fluorophores; aggregation-induced emission; sulfonimidamides; sulfoximes; chiral auxilary; organogel; azides reduction; Ni-B; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis stems from the chemistry of the azido group, and more specifically from the unique reactivity of perfluorinated aromatic azides and how to use this reactivity to access new types of molecules to enable new applications in asymmetric synthesis and materials.In the first section of this thesis, a photoactivatable fluorescence probe is presented, where the non-luminescent azide was activated via a UV-light-promoted intramolecular N–H insertion reaction forming a fluorescence emitter. 3. 18. Supervisory control for emission compliance of heavy-duty vehicles

    Author : Mohammed Razaul Karim; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; supervisory control; Euro VI emission legislation; exhaust aftertreatment system; Pontryagin’s minimum principle; E-NMPC.; Diesel engines;

    Abstract : Heavy freight trucks globally contribute to a significant proportion of transport-related air pollution. The dominant air pollutants from heavy freight trucks with diesel engine and exhaust aftertreatment system (EATS) are CO2, hydrocarbons (HC), CO, particulate matter (PM), NOX (NO and NO2), and NH3. 4. 19. Error reduction strategies for quantitative PET with focus on hybrid PET/MRI

    Author : Elin Wallstén; Anne Larsson; Jan Axelsson; Katrine Riklund; Ronald Boellaard; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Positron emission tomography; PET; PET MR; PET MRI; medical imaging; partial-volume effect; attenuation correction; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Abstract : Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is an important tool for detection, staging and follow-up in a wide range of diseases, including cancer and neurological disorders. As a functional imaging tool, PET can visualize biological processes, where positron emitting radioactive isotopes are connected to molecules with different functions in the body. READ MORE

    Abstract : Air quality has been one of the long-term focuses in society and has raised people’s concern regarding its amelioration in the post coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic era. Nitrogen oxides (NOx), including NO and NO2, as one of the most harmful air pollutants, have been stringently monitored in most countries due to their devastating impact on the environment and human health.
