  1. 6. NOx Storage and Reduction Catalysts. Reduction with Hydrogen and the Influence of Water and Carbon Dioxide

    Author : Anna Maria Lindholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NSR catalyst; Pt Ba Al; H2O; CO2; Pt Al; NOx reduction; H2; NH3 formation; NOx storage; Lean NOx Trap; N2O formation; kinetic modeling; Pt Si;

    Abstract : Environmental concern has increased over the past several years and resulted in stringent emission legislation on NOx, CO, and hydrocarbon emissions from automobile exhausts. Moreover, the demands to improve the fuel efficiency of engines and to lower the CO2 emissions have increased, and a way to meet this is by using lean burn engines which operate with oxygen excess. 2. 7. Deactivation of emission control catalysts for heavy-duty vehicles : Impact of biofuel and lube oil-derived contaminants

    Author : Sandra Dahlin; Lars Pettersson; Isabella Nova; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NH3-SCR; Cu-SSZ-13; V2O5-WO3 TiO2; catalyst deactivation; diesel oxidation catalyst; sulfur; phosphorus; biodiesel; heavy-duty; emission control; regeneration; alkali metals; NH3-SCR; Cu-SSZ-13; V2O5-WO3 TiO2; katalysatordeaktivering; dieseloxidationskatalysator; svavel; fosfor; biodiesel; tunga dieselmotorer; avgasrening; regenerering; alkalimetaller; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Catalytic emission control is used to reduce the negative impact of pollutants from diesel exhausts on our health and on the environment. For a heavy-duty truck, such a system consists of a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC), a diesel particulate filter (DPF), a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst, and an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC). 3. 8. Oxy-Fuel Combustion - The Control of Nitrogen Oxides

    Author : Fredrik Normann; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxy-fuel; NOx; O2 CO2; combustion; emission; nitrogen oxides;

    Abstract : Oxy-fuel combustion is one of the main candidates for carbon dioxide capture from power plants. In oxy-fuel combustion, oxygen diluted with recycled flue gas oxidizes the fuel. The elimination of air-borne nitrogen generates a flue gas that mainly consists of carbon dioxide and water. READ MORE

  4. 9. Water-in-diesel emulsion and microemulsion fuels: composition, structure and effect on emissions

    Author : Anna Lif; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NOx; microemulsion; combustion; diffusometry; alternative fuels; emission; emulsion; Fischer-Tropsch; MFC; PM; microfibrillated cellulose; NMR; surfactant; soot; diesel;

    Abstract : Water-in-diesel fuels, as emulsions and microemulsions, give reduced emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) in combustion in diesel engines compared to regular diesel. These fuels can contribute to an improved local environment in densely populated areas as they can replace regular diesel in existing vehicles without any engine modification requirements. READ MORE

  5. 10. Energy consumption transition : final household energy consumption in the case of Sweden 1920-2010

    Author : Mikael Levin; Lars-Fredrik Andersson; Ann-Kristin Bergquist; Thomas Pettersson; Bengt Kriström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; economic history; households; energy transition; energy consumption; residential; electrical appliances; Carbon dioxide; emission; ekonomisk historia; Economic History;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis examines households’ final energy consumption over the long run by measuring their final energy use and examining how structural, institutional and economic factors affected the demand for energy in the residential sector during the period 1920-2010, a period covering the transition from traditional to fossil to renewable energy carriers. I believe that wider understanding of the historical energy transition and energy consumption within the residential sector might help us gain important insights into the long-run development and the factors affecting energy consumption among the households.
