  1. 1. Enabling and Coercive Control : Coexistence in the Case of Banking

    Author : Cecilia Ekström; Tobias Johansson; Gabriella Wennblom; Magnus Hansson; Anders Hersinger; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Enabling control; coercive control; coexistence of control; attitudinal outcomes of control; management control; regulation; banking;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on subjects of control and attitudinal outcomes of formalized control in organizations. Previous research have concluded contradicting results of whether formalized control is positive or negative for the employees and propose that not only degree of formalization, but also type of formalization, can explain attitudinal outcomes. 2. 2. Enabling Perceptions of Management Controls : Evidence from International Development Programs

    Author : Raymond Ndikumana; Tobias Johansson-Berg; Lili-Anne Kihn; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Enabling control; perceptions; development programs; PLS-structural equation modeling; empowerment; performance;

    Abstract : A key challenge for management accounting and control is the extent to which the control’s intentions correlate with how it is received and perceived by those who are subject to it. Building on Adler & Borys’ (1996) enabling and coercive bureaucracy, this thesis explores the role of perception; that is, local actors consider controls as enabling their work instead of privileging only those at the top. 4. 4. Quasi-phase matched devices in Rb-doped KTiOPO4: counterpropagating nonlinear interactions, domain dynamics, and waveguides

    Author : Patrick Mutter; Carlota Canalias; Christopher Phillips; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Abstract Nonlinear interactions involving counterpropagating photons are gaining much attention in classical and quantum optics due to their unique properties that are very difficult, if not impossible, to realize in conventional co-propagating three-wave mixing. However, the large phase mismatch between the interacting waves demands an unnaturally large material birefringence or high-quality quasi-phasematched (QPM) devices with sub-µm periods. READ MORE

  5. 5. How to promote innovation from an organizational control perspective : A case study of a public infrastructure client

    Author : Anna-Therése Järvenpää; Per-Erik Eriksson; Johan Larsson; Tina Karrbom Gustavsson; Kristian Widén; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; infrastructure; organizational control; promoting innovation; public client; Sweden; control systems; inter-organizational; principal-agent; Byggproduktion och teknik; Construction Management and Building Technology;

    Abstract : Within the infrastructure sector, a public client can have various roles and responsibilities that extend beyond its own organization, such as stimulating and supporting innovation. As an infrastructure project is seldom standardized, the client needs to procure each contract based on the relevant uncertainties and complexities for that specific context. READ MORE
