1. Androgen receptors and endocrine disrupting substances
Abstract : Throughout the animal kingdom, organisms are dependent on substances such as steroid hormones to help them maintain internal balances. Examples of important tasks that are under regulation of steroid hormones are somatic and gonadal development, sexual performance and behavior (both social and sexual) as well as sex differentiation. 2. Biodegradation of the Recalcitrant Endocrine Disruptor Nonylphenol
Abstract : Currently, over 100 high-volume chemicals have been classified as endocrine disrupters. One of these is nonylphenol, which was used as the model compound in this study. This substance originates mainly from the degradation of non-ionic surfactants (nonylphenol ethoxylates) which are widely used in industrial and domestic applications. READ MORE

3. Inconsistencies and missing links in EU chemicals legislation
Abstract : The EU chemicals legislation consists of the Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and the Regulation on Classification, Labelling, and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP), complemented by over fifty regulations and directives regulating specific uses and products. While regulating individual uses may offer a faster and simpler approach to protecting human health and the environment from hazardous chemicals, it can also lead to inconsistencies, such as gaps and overlaps. 4. Occurrence and ecotoxicity of endocrine disruptor chemicals in aquatic environment and sewage treatment systems
Abstract : The applicability of one selected method for indirect measurement of vitellogenin (Vtg) in fish plasma based on the quantification of alkali-labile phosphates (ALP method) to assess estrogenicity in water was investigated. The ALP method applied in this investigation was originally developed with Carassius carassius (Crucian carps). READ MORE

5. Zebrafish as a model to study the neuroendocrine system and toxicity of endocrine disruptors
Abstract : Zebrafish is a popular vertebrate model system to study development and perform genetic analysis. It offers numerous advantages such as small size, short generation time, high fecundity, rapid and ex utero development of embryos and optically transparent embryos. READ MORE
