  1. 1. Hydrophobic Fusion Tags: Implications For Bioseparation and Cellular Expression

    Author : Anna Collén; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein production; secretion; aqueous two-phase systems; Trichoderma reesei; endoglucanase; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi; metabolism;

    Abstract : The studies in this thesis have shown that the partitioning of endoglucanase I (EGI, Cel7B) from T. reesei could be significantly improved by relatively minor genetic engineering. By adding short peptides composed of tryptophan and proline residues to EGI, extreme partitioning could be obtained. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cellulose hydrolysis by Trichoderma reesei cellulases: Studies on adsorption, sugar production and synergism of cellobiohydrolase I, II and endoglucanase II

    Author : Jozsef Medve; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FPLC; cellulose hydrolysis; Trichoderma reesei; cellulase; cellobiohydrolase; endoglucanase; adsorption isotherm; synergism; enzyme purification; isoenzymes; quantitative analysis; Biochemistry; Metabolism; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Three major cellulases, cellobiohydrolase I and II (CBH I and II) and endoglucanase II (EG II) of Trichoderma reesei have been purified by ion-exchange chromatography in an FPLC system. Microcrystalline cellulose (Avicel) was hydrolysed by the single enzymes and by equimolar mixtures of CBH I-CBH II and CBH I-EG II. READ MORE

  3. 3. Glycoside hydrolases from Rhodothermus marinus Modular organisation and structure-function relationships

    Author : Maher Abou-Hachem; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; calcium-binding; modular; endoglucanase; thermostable; CBM; xylanase; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : The thermophilic bacterium Rhodothermus marinus produces several thermostable glycoside hydrolases. The studies presented in this thesis were performed on two enzymes, belonging to glycoside hydrolase families 10 and 12, produced by this microorganism. The family 10 xylanase, Xyn10A, is modular in architecture consisting of five domains or modules. READ MORE

  4. 4. Manufacturing and Characterization of Cellulose Nanofibers

    Author : Carl Moser; Mikael Lindström; Gunnar Henriksson; Kristin Syverud; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cellulose; Nanofibers; Characterization; Homogenization; Endoglucanase; TEMPO; Specific surface area; Atomic force microscopy; Cellulosa; Nanofibrer; Karakterisering; Homogenisering; Endoglukanas; TEMPO; Specifik ytarea; Atomkraftmikroskopi; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : The usage of wood has been a dominant driving force during the evolution of the human species. It allowed us to cook food, build tools, put roofs over our head and explore the world. The fibers making up the tree has been the most important way to store and transmit knowledge in the form of paper for centuries. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mechanical Pulp Based Nano-ligno-cellulose : Production, Characterisation and their Effect on Paper Properties

    Author : Sinke Henshaw Osong; Per Engstrand; Sven Norgren; Kristin Syverud; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mechanical pulp; thermo-mechanical pulp; chemi-thermomechanical pulp; fractionation; fines; homogenisation; nanocellulose; nano-ligno-cellulose NLC ; handsheets; strength properties; crill;

    Abstract : Almost all research on biorefinery concepts are based on chemical pulping processes and ways of utilising lignin, hemicelluloses and extractives as well as a part of the remaining cellulose for production of nano materials in order to create more valuable products than today. Within the Forest as a Resource (FORE) research program at FSCN we are utilising the whole chain of unit processes from forestry to final products as paper and board, where the pulping process research focus on high yield process as TMP and CTMP.
