  1. 1. The Significance of IgG Antibodies against Tissue Transglutaminase in Coeliac Disease

    Author : Ingrid Dahlbom; Birgitta Heyman; Tony Hansson; Knut Lundin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Immunology; Coeliac disease; Tissue transglutaminase; Endomysium; IgG antibodies; Immunologi;

    Abstract : Coeliac disease (CD) is a multifactorial disease of the small intestine. In genetically predisposed individuals the, ingestion of cereals leads to a remodulation of the mucosal architecture, and the production of autoantibodies against tissue transglutaminase (tTG). The treatment is a lifelong gluten-free diet. READ MORE

  2. 2. Coeliac Disease: aspects in different child populations

    Author : Annelie Carlsson; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; EMA; Turner´s syndrome; Down´s syndrome; screening; diabetes mellitus; prevalence; coeliac disease; gluten; AGA; endomysium antibodies; IgA-gliadinantibodies; Pediatrics; Pediatri;

    Abstract : The true prevalence of coeliac disease includes patients with symptomatic/diagnosed disease, and silent or undiagnosed disease. The incidence of diagnosed coeliac disease increased steeply in Swedish children born after 1982, when a change in infant feeding recommendations was made. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gluten challenge in children with coeliac disease. With special reference to dose dependence and impact on growth markers and growth hormone secretion

    Author : Ulf Jansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Coeliac disease; children; gluten challenge; gluten dose; symptoms; enteropathy; ALP; ALAT; ASAT; albumin; IGF-I; GH.;

    Abstract : Coeliac disease is a prevalent food intolerance in both children and adults, in which ingestion of gluten causes inflammation of the small intestine. This inflammation resolves upon gluten withdrawal, and gluten challenge induces relapse of enteropathy in susceptible individuals. READ MORE

  4. 4. Serological markers in subclinical and clinical gluten enteropathy

    Author : Ewa Grodzinsky; Claes Hallert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) has been developed for the measurement of anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA), thereby providing a practical and cheap assay for use in the diagnosis of coeliac disease (CD). Since gliadin is a common food antigen for most people, a large group of apparently healthy blood donors (n=l866) was analysed, as well as children and adults with symptoms more or less suggesting CD. 5. 5. Tissue transglutaminase autoantibodies in childhood celiac disease

    Author : Daniel Agardh; Pediatrisk endokrinologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunologi; serologi; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Immunology; serology; transplantation; villous atrophy; T cells; serological marker; screening; intestinal mucosa; children; celiac disease; CD25; CD8; CD4; autoantibodies; B cells; gluten-free diet; autoimmunity;

    Abstract : Celiac disease is a prevalent small bowel disease in children caused by permanent intolerance against gliadin, which is the alcohol-soluble fraction of the cereal protein gluten in wheat, rye and barley. Celiac disease is characterized by an inflammatory infiltrate of CD4+ T lymphocytes in the intestinal mucosa leading to damage of villous structure and loss of absorptive surface. READ MORE
