  1. 11. Fluorescence fluctuation studies of biomolecular interactions in solutions, biomembranes and live cells

    Author : Volodymyr Chmyrov; Jerker Widengren; Antoine Delon; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; FCS; FCCS; Isomerization; TRAST; NMR; FRET; biomombrane; fluidity; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : Fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging have a very broad spectrum of applicationswithin the life sciences, in particular for detection and characterization ofbiomolecular dynamics and interactions in different environments. This thesis comprisesprojects that strive to further expand the information content extracted fromthe detected fluorescence, leading to sensitive readout parameters for studies ofbiomolecular dynamics and interactions. 2. 12. Investigation of Issues Related to Electrical Efficiency Improvements of Pump and Fan Drives in Buildings

    Author : Johan Åström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; permanent magnet motor; efficiency measurement; frequency converter; HVAC load profiles and saving potential; loss model; Induction motor;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with issues related to efficiency of building related pump and fan drive systems. Different motor technologies are analyzed and a more detailed study oninverter fed Induction Machines (IM) is presented. READ MORE

  3. 13. Lipase-Lipid Interactions Studied by Site-Directed Labeling and Biological Spectroscopy

    Author : Eva Hedin; Karl Hult; Marek Brzozowski; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermomyces lanuginous lipase; site-directed labeling; lipase-lipid interactions; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the study of lipase–lipid interactions of the triglyceride lipase Thermomyces lanuginosus lipase, TLL, by use of site-directed chemical labeling and biological spectroscopy. Several single-cysteine variants of TLL were produced, and labeled with probes containing either an affinity-, a fluorescence- or a spin-label functionality. READ MORE

  4. 14. Molecular Probing of Local Protein-Protein Interactions : Studies of the tissue factor, factor VIIa complex formation

    Author : Maria Österlund; Mikael Oliveberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Protein-protein interactions are intrinsic to virtually all cellular processes. However, very little is known about the dynamics of the formation of protein complexes or the order of events that direct the association between two protein molecules (the association pathway), especially when different interacting surfaces are involved. 5. 15. 3D super-resolution microscopy of living cells using reversibly switchable fluorophores

    Author : Andreas Bodén; Ilaria Testa; Francisco Balzarotti; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; RESOLFT; 3D imaging; super-resolution; microscopy; reversibly switchable fluorescent proteins; Biological Physics; Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : Traditional optical microscopy techniques are limited in spatial resolution due to the wave nature of light. This means that neighboring objects separated by a distance smaller than about 200 nm cannot be distinguished. READ MORE
