6. Energy Metabolic Stress Syndrome : Impact of Physical Activity of Different Intensity and Duration
Abstract : All living cell functions require an ongoing supply of energy derived from carbohydrates, lipids and proteins with their own pathways of breakdown. All of them end up in the oxidation of reduced coenzymes, yielding chemically-bound energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). READ MORE

7. Partial carbon capture – an opportunity to decarbonize primary steelmaking
Abstract : Climate change requires that all energy-related sectors drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). To have a high likelihood of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, large-scale mitigation of GHG has to start being implemented and cause emissions to fall well before Year 2030. READ MORE

8. Green consumption energy use and carbon dioxide emission
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to explore the quantitative potential to reduce energy requirements and CO2 emissions through changed patterns of consumption, given unchanged levels of consumption expenditure. The thesis question is analysed using a systems analysis approach which in this case means that life cycle assessment data on energy requirements and CO2 emissions related to household consumption are combined with a financial and behavioural analysis to make sure that the budget constraint is kept and that both the first and second order effects of adopting a green consumption pattern are analysed. 9. State-of-the-art Integrated Refrigeration Systems in Supermarkets : An Energy Efficiency Evaluation Based on Field Measurements Analysis and Computer Simulations
Abstract : Supermarkets have become a vital feature of modern society. However, they have significant impact on the environment due to the large amount of refrigerants needed in the refrigeration system, and due to the large energy use in the supermarket, they are the commercial buildings with highest energy intensity. 10. Energy Storage Systems in Electrical Distribution Grids : Analysis and implementations of use cases for service stacking
Abstract : This Ph.D. thesis investigates the possibility of using energy storage systems for multiple services by implementing service stacking, with special emphasis on congestion management in distribution grids. READ MORE
