  1. 1. The effect of surface morphology on bed particle layer characteristics in fluidized bed combustion and gasification of woody biomass

    Author : Ali Valizadeh; Marcus Öhman; Mikael Thyrel; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : A critical process phenomenon in fluidized bed combustion and gasification is the bed particle layer formation which might be problematic in cases where it instigates bed agglomeration and bed material deposition or could improve the process performance in cases where it has a positive effect on tar reduction in biomass gasification. The interactions between ash forming matter for a wide variety of wood-derived fuels with different types of bed materials in fluidized bed combustion and gasification have been profusely studied, and the underlying mechanism of bed particle layer formation has been suggested. 2. 2. Energy migration and charge formation in conjugated polymers

    Author : Yuri Zaushitsyn; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic resonance; relaxation; spectroscopy; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; egenskaper elektriska; magnetiska och optiska ; supraledare; magnetisk resonans; spektroskopi; supraconductors; magnetic and optical properties; electrical; energy transfer; Physics; Fysik; Condensed matter:electronic structure; transient absorption spectroscopy; conjugated polymer; charge photogeneration;

    Abstract : The main part of the thesis is concerned with charge photogeneration in conjugated polymers. MeLPPP and POMeOPT films were investigated by transient absorption spectroscopy using different excitation photon energies and light intensities with and without an external electric field. 3. 3. Electronic Energy Transfer within Asymmetric Pairs of Fluorophores: Partial Donor-Donor Energy Migration (PDDEM)

    Author : Stanislav Kalinin; Lennart B.-Å. Johansson; Helge Lemmetyinen; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; fluorescence resonance energy transfer FRET ; donor-donor energy migration DDEM ; homotransfer; fluorescence relaxation; lifetimes; time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy; time-correlated single photon counting; distance measurements; protein structure; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : A kinetic model of electronic energy migration within pairs of photophysically non-identical fluorophores has been developed. The model applies to fluorescent groups that exhibit different photophysical and spectral properties when attached to different positions in a macromolecule. READ MORE

  4. 4. Techniques to Save Energy in Heterogeneous Multicore Architectures under QoS Constraints

    Author : Muhammad Waqar Azhar; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; DVFS; Heterogeneous Multicores; Energy Efficiency; Resource Management; Core Migration; Quality-of-Service QoS ;

    Abstract : Typically, applications are run with available system resources leading to over-provisioning of resources which can lead to high energy consumption. If the computational demand is specified, in terms of a Quality of Service (QoS) contract, it is possible to devote just enough resources to applications and thereby reduce energy consumption. 5. 5. Childhood obesity prevention in the context of socio-economic status and migration

    Author : Maria B Magnusson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : BMI z-score; childhood obesity; counselling; dietary pattern; health belief; migration; physical activity; school nurses; socio-economic status; prevention;

    Abstract : Abstract Childhood obesity prevention in the context of socio-economic status and migration Maria Magnusson, Department of Public Health and Community, Institute of Medicine at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg. Background and aim The childhood obesity epidemic seems to be levelling out but groups with low socio-economic status (SES) remain disadvantaged in this context. READ MORE
