  1. 1. On the Analysis of Energy Efficient Aircraft Engines

    Author : Oskar Thulin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Performance modelling; Aero engine; Turbofan; Aircraft engine; Installed propulsion; Ultra high bypass ratio; Exergy analysis; Engine weight estimate; Variable area fan nozzle; Multiple pivoting flaps; Translating cowls;

    Abstract : Aero engine performance analysis is highly multidimensional using various measures of component performance such as turbomachinery and mechanical efficiencies, and pressure loss coefficients. Using conventional performance analysis, relying on only the laws of thermodynamics, it is possible to understand how the performance parameters affect the component performance, but it is difficult to directly compare the magnitude of various loss sources. 2. 2. Investigation on the Influence of Nodularity in Machining of Compacted Graphite Iron (CGI)

    Author : Gustav Grenmyr; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Compacted Graphite Iron CGI ; cutting forces; wear mechanisms; tool wear; nodularity; tool temperature; cutting temperature;

    Abstract : Stringency of environmental legislation on emission rates and increasing vehicle performance requirements are pushing the automotive and heavy truck industries to find new solutions for their diesel engines. Two potential opportunities to address these challenges involve increased combustion pressure to obtain more efficient combustion or reducing the weight of the engine. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Influence of Flow Leakage Modelling on Turbomachinery Blade Forcing Predictions

    Author : Tobias Gezork; Björn Laumert; Paul Petrie-Repar; Damian Vogt; Mehdi Vahdati; KTH; []
    Keywords : Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Abstract : Vibrations in turbomachinery engine components are undesirable as they put the structural integrity of the components at risk and can lead to failure during the lifetime of the turbomachinery engine. Vibrations arising from aerodynamic forces and stability of turbomachinery blades is assessed in the discipline of aeromechanics. READ MORE

  4. 4. Oxidation behaviour of MCrAlX coatings : effect of surface treatment and an Al-activity based life criterion

    Author : Pimin Zhang; Ru Lin Peng; Xin-Hai Li; Sten Johansson; Fang Liu; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : MCrAlY coatings (M=Ni and/or Co) have been widely used for the protection of superalloy components against oxidation and hot corrosion in the hot sections of gas turbines. The drive to improve engine combustion efficiency while reducing emissions by increasing the operation temperature brings a big challenge for coating design. READ MORE
