  1. 1. Prediction of engine component loads using previous measurements

    Author : Pär Mikaelsson Elmén; Mårten Olsson; Jan-Olov Aidanpää; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; engine; engine block vibration; engine block twist; engine block bending; vibration measurement; vibration estimation; rigid body vibrations; assumed modes; bending modes; torsion modes; system modification; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Internal combustion engines are used in many applications. The same engine type may have different components mounted to it depending upon its use. These engine mounted components need to be designed against fatigue in order to withstand the engine vibrations. Measured engine vibrations are commonly used as input data for fatigue estimation. 2. 2. Embedded Systems and FPGAs for Implementation of Control Oriented Models, Applied to Combustion Engines

    Author : Carl Wilhelmsson; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : NOx; NO; Nitrogen Oxides; Emissions; Air pollution; Algorithms; Physical model; Mathematical model; FPGA; Field Programmable Gate Arrays; Embedded Systems; Micro-controllers; Engine; Diesel Engine; Internal Combustion Engine; Combustion Control; Engine Control.;

    Abstract : Performance demands put on combustion engines are ever increasing, e.g. demands on emissions and fuel consumption. The increased demands together with new combustion concepts increase the need for feedback engine and combustion control. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aero Engine Intercooling

    Author : Xin Zhao; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : PIV; CFD; porous media; aero engine; pressure measurements; intercooling control; system performance; intercooler; variable flow path;

    Abstract : Intercooling has the potential to provide a shortcut to the next generation aero engines with higher bypass ratio (BPR), higher overall pressure ratio (OPR) and higher turbine inlet temperature (TIT) by lowering the high pressure compressor (HPC) delivery temperature. To be able to establish a systematic understanding of aero engine intercooling, the heat transfer and pressure loss characteristics of a given intercooler architecture need to be known in the parameter range anticipated for the engine optimization. 4. 4. Model-Based Diesel Engine Management System Optimization - A Strategy for Transient Engine Operation

    Author : Markus Grahn; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engine management system; Modeling; Engine control; Diesel engine; Fuel Consumption; Optimization; Emissions; Calibration; Simulation;

    Abstract : To meet increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system. Abstract : Due to increasingly strict emission legislation and stronger demands on fuel consumption, typical passenger car diesel engines become increasingly complex with more and more controllable systems added. These added systems open up for the possibility to operate the engine at more efficient conditions, but it also becomes more challenging to optimize the settings in the engine management system.
