11. InAS Quantum Dots for Laser Applications and Pedogogical, Gender, and Multicultural Aspects in Engineering Education
Abstract : This thesis builds on new cross-disciplinary research between engineering and educational sciences. Recently, two other theses that combine research in physics and education (Åke Ingerman, 2002, and Tom Adawi, 2002) have been completed in Sweden. This thesis consolidates a trend that can benefit both disciplines. READ MORE

12. Innovations in nanomaterials for proton exchange membrane fuel cells
Abstract : Hydrogen technologies are rapidly receiving increased attention as it offers a renewable energy alternative to the current petroleum-based fuel infrastructure, considering that continued large-scale use of such fossil fuels will lead to disastrous impacts on our environment. The proton exchange membrane fuel cell should play a significant role in a hydrogen economy since it enables convenient and direct conversion of hydrogen into electricity, thus allowing the use of hydrogen in applications particularly suited for the transportation industry. 13. Novel Materials and Technologies for IR Optoelectronic Applications
Abstract : This thesis focuses on novel III-V materials (InAs/GaSb type-II superlattices, T2SL, and dilute bismides) and metamorphic growth techniques for infrared optoelectronics all of which may find wide spread applications in telecommunication, energy harvesting and saving, sensing and imaging. Mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) photodetectors at the atmospheric windows of 3-5 and 8-12 µm, respectively, are currently dominated by HgCdTe and quantum well infrared photodetectors. 14. Determining and Optimizing the Current and Magnetic Field Dependence of Spin-Torque and Spin Hall Nano-Oscillators : Toward Next-Generation Nanoelectronic Devices and Systems
Abstract : Spin-torque and spin Hall nano-oscillators are nanoscale devices (about 100 nm) capable of producing tunable broadband high-frequency microwave signals ranging from 0.1 GHz to over 65 GHz that several research groups trying to reach up to 200 - 300 GHz. READ MORE

15. Millimeter-Waves Slot Array Antennas based on Gap Waveguide Technology
Abstract : Recently, gap waveguide technology is introduced as a promising guiding structure for millimeter-wave systems. The conception of gap waveguide technology can be modeled for theoretical analysis by two parallel plates, a top perfect electric conductor layer and a bottom perfect magnetic conductor layer.
