  1. 1. Microbial Degradation of Toxaphene

    Author : Martha Lacayo; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kontroll av utsläpp; Miljöteknik; pollution control; Enterobacter; Environmental technology; Bjerkandera; Toxaphene; Biodegradation; Biotechnology; Bioteknik;

    Abstract : This works deals with the degradation of a group of recalcitrant compounds known as toxaphene. Toxaphene is a complex mixture of chlorinated compounds including hexa- and octachlorocamphenes, hepta-, nona- and decachlorobornanes. Some components of toxaphene are very persistent while others are degraded rapidly by both abiotic and biotic processes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bioremediation of Toxic Metals for Protecting Human Health and the Ecosystem

    Abstract : In the first study, three different transport systems for bacteria were evaluated. The CLSI M40-A guideline was used to monitor the maintenance of both mono- and polymicrobial samples during a simulated transportation at room temperature that lasted 0-48 h. READ MORE

  4. 4. Surveillance of Antibiotic Consumption and Antibiotic Resistance in Swedish Intensive Care Units

    Author : Marcus Erlandsson; Håkan Hanberger; Nils Smith-Erichsen; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Introduction: Nosocomial infections remain a major cause of mortality and morbidity. The problem is most apparent in intensive care units (ICUs). Most ICU patients are compromised and vulnerable as a result of disease or severe trauma. One in ten people admitted to hospital is given an antibiotic for infection. READ MORE

  5. 5. Novel diagnostic methods for rapid characterization of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase- and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae
