6. Molecular recognition and dynamics in proteins studied by NMR
Abstract : Knowledge of dynamics in protein is very important in the description of protein function and molecular recognition. The thesis investigates protein dynamics on time-scales from milli- to sub-nanosecond, with focus on the latter, using NMR spin relaxation experiments on two proteins, the 138-residue carbohydrate recognition domain of galectin-3 (Gal3C) and the 56-residue B1 domain of bacterial protein G (PGB1). 7. Protein Folding Studies on the Ribosomal Protein S6: the Role of Entropy in Nucleation
Abstract : One of the most challenging tasks remaining in the field of biochemistry is the one of understanding how the information within the amino acid sequence of proteins translates into a unique structure. Solving this problem would lead to endless possibilities for application in the medical and biotechnology industry. READ MORE

8. Characterization methods and modelling for Li-ion batteries: entropy, impedance, pressure, diffusivity & temperature swings induced aging
Abstract : Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used for energy storage systems, and temperature is one key impact factor on the cell performance and lifetime. In literature, the focus has been on the ambient temperature of the test condition, and there is little discussion about how the temperature swing during cycling affects the battery lifetime. 9. Investigations of the corrosion resistances of magnetron sputtered multicomponent materials : A study on high entropy alloys, high entropy sublattice ceramics, and metallic glasses
Abstract : The corrosion resistances of sputter deposited AlCrNbYZrN, CrNbTiTaWC and TaNiSiC alloys were assessed in acidic and alkaline environments. Compositionally complex alloying strategies, and whether they produced coatings with superior corrosion resistances, were explored. READ MORE

10. Alloy Design and Optimization of Mechanical Properties of High-Entropy Alloys
Abstract : High-entropy alloys (HEAs) are described as alloys containing multi-principal elements in equal or close to equal atomic percentage. HEAs are considered as potential structural materials for high-temperature applications; where alloy design and optimization of mechanical properties is extremely critical. READ MORE
