1. Evaluating the transport and composition of gully pot sediments : Under changing anthropogenic activities and rainfall regimes
Abstract : Gully pots are a fundamental runoff quality and quantity control measure installed in urban catchments around the world. However, their ubiquitous use in urban catchments also incurs a substantial resource demand in terms of routine maintenance if their continuous performance is to be assured. READ MORE

2. Sources and fluxes of organic contaminants in urban runoff
Abstract : Urban runoff quality is recognized as one of the most significant pressures on aquatic ecosystems worldwide. Research into pollutants in urban runoff has traditionally focused on nutrients, suspended solids and metals and consequently knowledge of anthropogenic organic pollutants is limited. READ MORE

3. Occurrence of Traffic-Derived Microplastics in Different Matrices in the Road Environment
Abstract : The prevalence of microplastic contamination has raised concerns about the potential risk and impact on the global environment. Traffic-derived microplastics, i.e., tire wear particles (TWP), polymer-modified bitumen, and road markings contribute to the emissions, and TWP are assumed to be one of the largest sources of microplastic emissions. 4. Rapid analysis of actinide isotopes using quadrupole ICP-MS for emergency preparedness and environmental monitoring
Abstract : Transuranium elements in the environment are mainly derived from nuclear weapons testing and the nuclear fuel cycle. Of growing concern are illicit nuclear trafficking and the threat of terror acts. READ MORE

5. Optimizing processes for biological nitrogen removal in Nakivubo wetland, Uganda
Abstract : The ability of Nakivubo wetland (which has performed tertiary water treatment for Kampala city for the past 40 years) to respond to pollution and to protect the water quality of Inner Murchison Bay of Lake Victoria was investigated. The aim of this study was to assess the capacity of Nakivubo wetland to remove nitrogen from the wastewater after its recent encroachment and modification, in order to optimize biological nitrogen removal processes using constructed wetland technology.
