  1. 1. The oxidative metabolism by eosinophils Effects of allergen exposure and interleukin-5

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Charlotte Woschnagg; Uppsala universitet.; [2000]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; Eosinophils; allergy; asthma; rhinitis; oxidative metabolism; IL-5; priming; signal transduction; protein phosphorylation; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : In this thesis the oxidative metabolism by blood eosinophils from birch pollen allergic subjects was studied and compared to that by eosinophils from healthy controls, during and out of the pollen season. The effects and mechanisms of in vitro IL-5 priming on blood eosinophils were investigated and compared to the effects of in vivo priming during pollen exposure. READ MORE

  2. 2. Eosinophils, their progenitors and T helper cells in allergic airway inflammation

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : You Lu; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; eosinophils; eosinophil progenitors; T helper cells; Th2 cells; IL-33; migration; Asthma;

    Abstract : Introduction: Asthma is a heterogeneous chronic lung disease associated with pronounced inflammatory changes in the airways. Eosinophilic inflammation is the trait that is best linked to symptoms and treatment responses in allergic asthma. READ MORE

  3. 3. Activation of human eosinophils by exogenous danger signals

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lena Svensson; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2004]

    Abstract : Eosinophilic granulocytes are leukocytes that reside in the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. Their function in health is unknown. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional and Phenotypic Studies of Eosinophilic Granulocytes in Patients with Eosinophilic Esophagitis

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Christine Lingblom; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2015]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; adults; children; corticosteroids; eosinophils; eosinophilic esophagitis; FOXP3; galectin-10; inflammation; T cell suppression;

    Abstract : Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic inflammatory disorder of unknown etiology, in which the esophagus is infiltrated by eosinophils and T cells. Topical corticosteroids are one of the treatment options for patients with EoE. The function of eosinophils in EoE is unknown, here we hypothesize that eosinophils serve as immunoregulatory cells. 5. 5. Development and Resolution of Allergic Airway Inflammation in vivo: effects of therapeutic intervention

    University dissertation from Department of Experimental Medical Science, Lund Univeristy

    Author : Lena Uller; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2005]

    Abstract : Eosinophils, containing tissue toxic granule proteins, are regarded a culprit cell in asthma pathogenesis. Using animal and human experimental models of asthma effects on eosinophilic airway inflammation were investigated in vivo. READ MORE
