  1. 11. Advancing concurrent system verification : Type based approach and tools

    Author : Ramunas Gutkovas; Johannes Borgström; Björn Victor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Abstract : Concurrent systems, i.e., systems of parallel processes, are nearly ubiquitous and verifying the correctness of such systems is becoming an important subject. Many formalisms were invented for such purpose, however, new types of systems are introduced and there is a need for handling larger systems. READ MORE

  2. 12. A study of the operation of infimal convolution

    Author : Thomas Strömberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematik; Mathematics;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers (A-E), which examine the operation of infimal convolution and discuss its close connections to unilateral analysis, convex analysis, inequalities, approximation, and optimization. In particular, we attempt to provide a detailed investigation for both the convex and the non-convex case, including several examples. READ MORE

  3. 13. Partiality and Choice : Foundational Contributions

    Author : Jesper Carlström; Per Martin-Löf; Gilles Dowek; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Abstract : The subject of the thesis is foundational aspects of partial functions (Papers 1, 2 & 4) and some choice principles (Papers 3 & 4) in the context of constructive mathematics.Paper 1 studies the inversion functions of commutative rings. The foundational problem of having them only partially defined is overcome by extending them to total functions. READ MORE

  4. 14. Interpreting budget deficits and productivity fluctuations

    Author : Jyry Hokkanen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Economics; Nationalekonomi; Economics; Nationalekonomi; nationalekonomi; Economics;

    Abstract : This thesis includes four self-contained essays on budget deficits and productivity fluctuations:ESSAY I evaluates the effects of budget deficits on several key macroeconomic variables of the Swedish economy by estimating a vector autoregression model. The main finding is that - apart from a positive transitory real interest rate effect associated with a shock in the deficit - neither actual nor unexpected movements in deficits have any significant explanatory power for the determination of real non-fiscal variables.
