  1. 1. Methods for Optimal Model Fitting and Sensor Calibration

    Author : Erik Ask; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Model Fitting; Sensor Networks; Computer Vision; Polynomial Equations; Action Matrix Methods;

    Abstract : The problem of fitting models to measured data has been studied extensively, not least in the field of computer vision. A central problem in this field is the difficulty in reliably find corresponding structures and points in different images, resulting in outlier data. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring societal impacts of self-driving public transport using four-step transport models

    Author : Erik Almlöf; Mikael Nybacka; Erik Jenelius; Mia Hesselgren; Clas Rydergren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Self-driving vehicles; Public transport; Four-step transport model; Societal impacts; Sampers; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : During the last decade, self-driving technology has become increasingly visible in the news, with the vision that people would enter vehicles that drive themselves, and that people could instead rest, read the newspaper, or have a meeting. However, these visions have mainly focused on the potential for car usage, even though public transport could benefit greatly from self-driving technology. READ MORE

  3. 3. The knowledge problem of public transport policy

    Author : Erik Johansson; Trafik och väg; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Public transport; Planning; Appraisal; Evaluation; Public transport; Planning; Appraisal; Evaluation;

    Abstract : The overall aim of the thesis is to investigate the knowledge problem in regional public transport planning. The knowledge problem is twofold. How do transport policy arrive at the desirable actions they take and how do they assess the alternatives, and what can we say about the contributions of already implemented transport schemes. 4. 4. Interacting Particle Systems: Percolation, Stochastic Domination and Randomly Evolving Environments

    Author : Erik Broman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Determinantal processes; k-dependence; k-block-factors; percolation; stochastic Ising models; contact process; $ epsilon-$movability; hidden Markov chain; stochastic domination; k-block-factors;

    Abstract : In this thesis we first analyze the class of one-dependent trigonometric determinantal processes and show that they are all two-block-factors. We do this by constructing the two-block-factors explicitly. Second we investigate the dynamic stability of percolation for the stochastic Ising model and the contact process. READ MORE

  5. 5. Digital Geometry and Khalimsky Spaces

    Author : Erik Melin; Christer Kiselman; Gunilla Borgefors; Mikael Passare; Jean Serra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Applied mathematics; Khalimsky topology; digital geometry; digital topology; Alexandrov space; digital surface; digital curve; digital manifold; continuous extension; smallest-neighborhood space; image processing; Tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : Digital geometry is the geometry of digital images. Compared to Euclid’s geometry, which has been studied for more than two thousand years, this field is very young.Efim Khalimsky’s topology on the integers, invented in the 1970s, is a digital counterpart of the Euclidean topology on the real line.
