    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; β-haemolytic streptococci; Streptococcus dysgalactiae; Streptococcus pyogenes; Erysipelas; Infective endocarditis; Antibiotic synergy; Bacteraemia; Time to positivity;

    Abstract : Group C and G streptococci (GCS/GGS) and group A streptococci (GAS) belong to β-haemolytic streptococci (BHS). GCS/GGS can further be species determined to S. dysgalactiae, whereas S. pyogenes are GAS. READ MORE

  2. 22. In Vivo Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy of Human Tissue : From Point Measurements to Imaging

    Author : Erik Häggblad; Göran Salerud; Tomas Strömberg; Maurice C. G. Maurice C. G. Aalders; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the non-invasive use of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) to provide information about the biochemical composition of living tissue. During DRS measurements, the incident, visible light is partially absorbed by chromophores but also scattered in the tissue before being remitted. READ MORE

  3. 23. Prediction and prevention of allergy in infants and children

    Author : Hannes Odelram; Tony Foucard; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Atopic disposition is hereditary with varying penetrance. A carefully obtained family history of atopic disease (FH) is useful as a predictor but has low sensitivity. Other tested predictors such as cord blood (CB) IgE, counts of different CB cell elements and combinations of predictors all have a similar, or even lower sensitivity and specificity. READ MORE

  4. 24. Preclinical Studies for Cryoprevention of Oral Mucositis

    Abstract : Oral mucositis (OM) is a debilitating adverse effect, with a prevalence of up to 80% in patients with cancer who are conditioned with high-dose chemotherapy prior to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. In its mildest form, OM is characterized by erythema. However, as it worsens, it can give rise to painful ulcerations in the oral mucosa. READ MORE
