  1. 1. Ice Sheet, Climate, and Landscape Interactions in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica

    Author : Jens-Ove Näslund; Sugden David; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antarctica; Basal temperature; Dronning Maud Land; Erosion; Escarpments; Glacial landforms; Ice Sheets; Ice sheet modelling; Landscape development; Palaeosurfaces; Radar; Other earth sciences; Övrig geovetenskap; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Abstract : The impact of glaciers and ice sheets on the subglacial landscape are of fundamental importance for studies of glacial history and landscape development, both in previously glaciated areas and in areas that are glaciated today. The thesis concerns the present and past erosive capacity of the ice sheet in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica. READ MORE

  2. 2. Shipborne geophysical study of an Ordovician-Silurian carbonate platform, Fårö - Hiiumaa area, northeastern Baltic Sea

    Author : Igor Tuuling; Jan Bergström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Historical Geology and Paleontology; historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Abstract : The lithological-stratigraphical subdivision, the internal structure and the present relief of the Lower Paleozoic bedrock sequence was investigated by means of high resolution shallow marine seismic reflection profiling in the northeastern Baltic Sea.The Cambrian, as well as the lowermost Silurian layers, show rapidly changing lithologies and thicknesses and provide no trans-Baltic seismic reflectors. 3. 3. Spatial variability of geogenic contaminants in drinking water sources : Insights into hydrogeological controls, geospatial data for safe water supply and groundwater resource management

    Author : J. Ijumulana; Prosun Bhattacharya; Felix Mtalo; Steve W. Lyon; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drinking water; geogenic contaminants; potentially toxic elements; fluoride; spatial analysis; spatial variability; Tanzania; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Abstract : The presence of geogenic contaminants in drinking water is a major health concern in many parts of the world. The interaction of groundwater with different rock types and sediments in the natural geochemical environment play an important role in controlling their mobility. READ MORE
