    Abstract : Eta Carinae is a super-massive, super-luminous star. It is surrounded by a bipolar nebula, the "Homunculus", and several blobs of ejected gas which are the source of a complex emission-line spectrum. READ MORE

  2. 2. Anomalous Spectral Lines in Space and Laboratory Plasmas - Studies with HST and CRYRING

    Author : Henrik Hartman; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; magnetic resonance; supraconductors; magnetic and optical properties; electrical; Condensed matter:electronic structure; strontium; titanium; CRYRING; iron; STIS; metastable levels; HST; RR Telesopii; Eta Carinae; line identification; fluorescence; forbidden lines; Atomic Spectroscopy; lifetime measurements; Astronomy; Astronomi; rymdvetenskap; cosmic chemistry; space research; spektroskopi; supraledare; magnetiska och optiska ; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; magnetisk resonans; relaxation; spectroscopy; kosmisk kemi; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Hartman;

    Abstract : Eta Carinae is one of the most massive and luminous stars in the Galaxy. A huge bipolar nebula and an equatorial disk give the object a characteristic shape. Close to the star there are gas clouds, which emit intriguing emission line spectra. READ MORE

  3. 3. Eta Carinae : ‡b a challenge for the Hubble Space Telescope and atomic spectroscopists

    Author : Torgil Zethson; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []

  4. 4. High Resolution Spectroscopy of Singly Charged Ions : Applications of Laser and Fourier Transform Techniques

    Author : Jonas Gurell; Sven Mannervik; Richard Holt; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atomic physics; Atomfysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents measurements of fundamental properties of singly charged ionic systems including spectral wavelengths, lifetimes of excited states and branching fractions with the main focus on time resolved laser spectroscopy of stored ions providing lifetime measurements of metastable states. The results of these measurements have been used to determine energy levels and transition probabilities of the studied systems. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dynamics and Atomic Processes in the Symbiotic Star AG Peg as Derived from Its Emission Line Spectrum

    Author : Mattias Eriksson; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomi; rymdvetenskap; kosmisk kemi; cosmic chemistry; space research; Astronomy; Atom- och molekylärfysik; Atomic and molecular physics; Symbiotic stars; Fluorescence; Atomic processes;

    Abstract : The spectra of symbiotic stars are shown to frequently contain numerous fluorescence lines caused by Photo-excitation by Accidental Resonance (PAR). So far, most work involving fluorescence in stellar spectra has been assigned to the search of new PAR mechanisms, which can explain the presence of certain emission lines. READ MORE
