  1. 1. Shout at the eta

    Author : Mårten Stenmark; Göran Fäldt; Colin Wilkin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Theoretical physics; Meson production; Noncommutative geometry; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Quantum chromodynamics has interesting limits both in the low and the high-energy region. In the low energy region one has phenomenology of meson interactions which are still not clearly understood. READ MORE

  2. 2. Burakumin and Shimazaki Toson's Hakai: Images of Discrimination in Modern Japanese Literature

    Author : René Andersson; Japanska; []

    Abstract : Published in 1906, Hakai or The Broken Commandment in English, by Shimazaki Tôson, is generally considered the first novel in the genre of shizenshugi, a Japanese variation of French Naturalisme. Traditionally, the novel has been viewed as an example of kokuhaku shôsetsu, or “confessional novel” in that the protagonist “confesses” his origin as a member of Eta¾an autochtonous and despised minority in Japan, in current days called Burakumin. Abstract : The present thesis describes two experiments performed in the storage ring CELSIUS at The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala. In the first experiment the importance of three - nucleon clustering in the six - nucelon system was investigated. The total cross section for the production of the ground state and the 3. READ MORE

  5. 5. Endothelin receptor changes during inflammation in the lung

    Author : Bengt Granström; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Upregulation; Smooth muscle cells; Smoking; Sephadex; Remodeling; Rat; mRNA; Human; ETB receptor; ETA receptor; Lung; Endothelin; Asthma bronchiale; Contraction;

    Abstract : Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is an extremely potent smooth muscle spasmogen well known from the vascular system but also active within the airways. The importance of its proinflammatory and co-mitogenic properties has become increasingly evident, the endothelin system also having been shown to mimic the signal features of asthma, COPD and other pulmonary diseases.
