  1. 1. Atmospheric & Oceanic Applications of Eulerian and Lagrangian Transport Modelling

    Author : Joakim Kjellsson; Kristofer Döös; Jonas Nycander; Joseph LaCasce; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eulerian; Lagrangian; trajectory; climate; atmosphere; ocean; modelling; drifter; thermodynamic; climate change; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : This thesis presents several ways to understand transports of air and water masses in the atmosphere and ocean, and the transports of energy that they imply. It presents work using various kinds of observations as well as computer simulations of the atmosphere and oceans. READ MORE

  2. 2. Numerical Study of Dispersed Two-phase Flows

    Author : Zhilei Wu; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; Teknik; Technological sciences; Eulerian Lagrangian model.; Eulerian Eulerian model; Lagrangian Particle Tracking; Large Eddy Simulation; Two-phase flow; Particle Image Velocimetry; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik;

    Abstract : This thesis considers the numerical study of dispersed two-phase flows.Numerical simulations have been done to investigate the particle trasportation/dispersion effect in turbulent two-phase flows. Both turbulent bubble/water flows and turbulent particle/air flows are studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Realizable Hybrid Mixture-Bubble Model for Cavitating Flows

    Author : Ebrahim Ghahramani; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multi-scale model; Homogeneous mixture model; Cavitation; Disperse multiphase flow; Eulerian-Lagrangian model; OpenFOAM;

    Abstract : Cavitating multi-phase flows include an extensive range of cavity structures with different length scales, from micro bubbles to large sheet cavities that may fully cover the surface of a device. To avoid high computational expenses, incompressible transport equation models are considered a practical option for simulation of large scale cavitating flows, normally with limited representation of the small scale vapour structures. 4. 4. Fluidized Bed Operating Parameters and Eulerian Erosion Models

    Author : Mattias Gustavsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eulerian erosion model; fluidized bed; distributor plate; slugging; plenum chamber; brittle; two-fluid model; ductile; air-feed system;

    Abstract : A numerical two-fluid code, Gemini 2D, was adapted to study gas-solid fluidization in arbitrary 2D domains. The code was also used to study fluid dynamic mechanisms of dense particle flow that cause ductile and brittle erosion of solids. READ MORE

  5. 5. Eulerian-Lagrangian modeling of particle motion in exhaust gas aftertreatment systems

    Author : Henrik Ström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; urea-SCR; particle trapping; flow-through filter; urea decomposition; diesel particulate matter; particle motion; particle filter; AdBlue-spray; Eulerian-Lagrangian modeling;

    Abstract : In the work to design and optimize new aftertreatment system devices for NOx reduction and particulate matter removal in lean engine exhaust (such as diesel exhaust), it is of great help to be able to perform quick, robust and reliable computer simulations of system performance. A suitable platform for such simulations is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software. READ MORE
