1. Phase Equilibrium-aided Design of Phase Change Materials from Blends : For Thermal Energy Storage
Abstract : Climate change is no longer imminent but eminent. To combat climate change, effective, efficient and smart energy use is imperative. Thermal energy storage (TES) with phase change materials (PCMs) is one attractive choice to realize this. READ MORE

2. Hot Cracking and Grain Boundary Weaknesses of Nickel - Based Superalloys
Abstract : Abstract Grain boundary weaknesses of nickel-based superalloys not only materialize during service in the hot turbine engine sections but also during the weld manufacturing. The performance, in this respect, of the most commonly used alloys at Volvo Aero Corporation (VAC), 718 and the higher temperature capacity Waspaloy, are therefore the main subjects for this thesis. 3. Microstructure development and mechanical properties of cast and thermo-mechanically treated eutectic high-entropy alloys
Abstract : The recently emerging high-entropy alloys (HEAs) present a novel alloying strategy, significantly expanding the scope of metal alloy design. Single-phase HEAs, nevertheless, suffer from the strength-ductility trade off as seen in conventional metallic materials. READ MORE

4. Characterization and Modification of Microstructure in Al-Co-Cr-Fe-Ni Eutectic High-Entropy Alloys
Abstract : The recently emerging high-entropy alloys (HEAs) present a novel alloying strategy, significantly expanding the scope of metal alloy design. HEAs are defined as alloys consisting of at least four principal elements in equi- or near equiatomic ratios, with a possibility of small amounts of alloying elements. READ MORE

5. Prediction of forced convection heat transfer to Lead-Bismuth-Eutectic
Abstract : The goal of this work is to investigate the capabilities of two different commercial codes, OpenFOAM and ANSYS CFX, to predict forced convection heat transfer in low Prandtl number fluids and investigate the sensitivity of these predictions to the type of code and to several input parameters. The goal of the work is accomplished by predicting forced convection heat transfer in two different experimental setups with the codes OpenFOAM and ANSYS CFX using three different turbulence models and varying the input parameters in an extensive sensitivity analysis.
