  1. 1. Retinal function in deaf-blind syndromes

    Author : Eva Malm; Lund Oftalmologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; general anesthesia.; molecular genetics; hearing impairment; full-field electroretinography; Retinal degeneration;

    Abstract : A variety of disorders can cause retinal degeneration and hearing impairment, and it is of great value to have an early diagnosis since there is a large variation in phenotype and prognosis both within and between the different disorders. The general aim of this thesis was to characterize the retinal function, to describe the phenotype, and – where appropriate – to relate the phenotype to genotype in patients with combined visual and hearing impairment. 2. 2. Measurements in Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus : Computerized neuropsychological test battery and intracranial pulse waves

    Author : Anders Behrens; Jan Malm; Anders Eklund; Eva Elgh; Niklas Lenfeldt; Marianne Juhler; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hydrocephalus; Normal Pressure; Neuropsychological tests; Neuropsychology; Reliability and validity; Software; Dementia; intracranial pressure; spinal puncture; cerebrospinal fluid pressure; pulse pressure waves; Blood flow velocity; Middle cerebral artery; Pulsatility index; Neurology; neurologi;

    Abstract : Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (INPH) is a condition affecting gait, cognition and continence. Radiological examination reveals enlarged ventricles of the brain. A shunt that drains CSF from the ventricles to the abdomen often improves the symptoms. READ MORE

  3. 3. Physiological demands of competitive elite cross-country skiing

    Author : Magnus Carlsson; Michail Tonkonogi; Christer Malm; Eva Andersson; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Performance capability; maximal oxygen uptake; lactate threshold; lean mass; double poling; power output; maximal speed; sprint skiing; distance skiing.; Health and Welfare; Hälsa och välfärd;

    Abstract : Introduction Researchers have, for decades, contributed to an increased collective understanding of the physiological demands in cross-country skiing; however, almost all of these studies have used either non-elite subjects and/or performances that emulate cross-country skiing. To establish the physiological demands of cross-country skiing, it is important to relate the investigated physiological variables to the competitive performance of elite skiers. READ MORE

  4. 4. Partner relationship in couples living with atrial fibrillation

    Author : Tomas Dalteg; Eva Benzein; Dan Malm; Anna Sandgren; Anna-Karin Edberg; Högskolan i Jönköping; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; Atrial fibrillation; cardiac disease; couples; partner-relationship;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to describe and explore how the partner relationship of patient–partner dyads isaffected following cardiac disease and, in particular, atrial fibrillation (AF) in one of the spouses.The thesis is based on four individual studies with different designs: descriptive (I), explorative (II, IV), and cross-sectional (III). 5. 5. Modelling and Degradation Characteristics of Thin-film CIGS Solar Cells

    Author : Ulf Malm; Marika Edoff; Lars Stolt; James R. Sites; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; solar cells; thin-film; chalcogenide; stability; characterization; modelling; simulations; finite element method; CIGS; photovoltaic module; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Thin-film solar cells based around the absorber material CuIn1-xGaxSe2 (CIGS) are studied with respect to their stability characteristics, and different ways of modelling device operation are investigated. Two ways of modelling spatial inhomogeneities are detailed, one fully numerical and one hybrid model. READ MORE
