  1. 16. Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery in Internal Combustion Engines

    Author : Vikram Singh; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low Temperature Waste Heat Recovery; Rankine cycle; Coolant Temperature; Working Fluids;

    Abstract : Over the past few decades, the automotive industry has increasingly looked towards increasing the efficiency of the internal combustion engine to meet more stringent emission norms and as a measure to meet demands for improved air quality in cities. One method to improve the internal combustion engine efficiency is to recover some of the energy lost to the coolant and the exhaust using a secondary thermodynamic cycle such as an Organic Rankine Cycle. 2. 17. The Role of Molecular Heterogeneity in the Structural Dynamics of Aqueous Solutions

    Author : Sharon Berkowicz; Fivos Perakis; Giulio Monaco; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Water; Aqueous solutions; X-ray scattering; X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy; Dynamic light scattering; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The liquid-liquid critical point hypothesis suggests that liquid water exists in two liquid states with different local structures, so-called high- and low-density liquid (HDL, LDL). At ambient pressure water locally fluctuates between these two states, with the fluctuations becoming more pronounced as the liquid is supercooled. READ MORE

  3. 18. X-Ray Investigations of the Liquid-Liquid Critical Point Hypothesis in Supercooled Water

    Author : Alexander Späh; Anders Nilsson; Martin Meedom Nielsen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water; supercooled water; x-ray scattering; free electron x-ray laser; liquid-liquid phase transition; liquid-liquid critical point; x-ray speckle visibility spectroscopy; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental x-ray scattering studies on supercooled liquid water. A liquid-liquid transition between two structurally distinct configurations has been found in deeply supercooled water, indicating the existence of a liquid- liquid critical point. READ MORE
