  1. 1. Evolutionary transitions across the tree of life : Phylogenomic case studies in environmental archaea, bacteria and eukaryotes

    Author : Max Emil Schön; Thijs J. G. Ettema; Fabien Burki; David Moreira; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Evolutionary transitions; environmental sequencing; metagenomics; single-cell genomics; phylogenomics; haloarchaea; Hikarchaeia; Rickettsiales; Picozoa; plastid evolution; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution;

    Abstract : Microbes form the majority of life on Earth, but have been systematically underrepresented in historical research. The sequencing revolutions of the last two decades have completely changed the way we can study microbial genomic information, giving us the means to probe ever deeper into their evolution. 2. 2. Evolutionary Approaches to Sequence Alignment

    Author : Marcin Bogusz; Simon Whelan; Jeffrey Thorne; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; molecular evolution; multiple sequence alignment; pair hidden Markov models; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär genetik;

    Abstract : Molecular evolutionary biology allows us to look into the past by analyzing sequences of amino acids or nucleotides. These analyses can be very complex, often involving advanced statistical models of sequence evolution to construct phylogenetic trees, study the patterns of natural selection and perform a number of other evolutionary studies. 3. 3. Digital Capability and Business Model Reconfiguration : a co-evolutionary perspective

    Author : Behrooz Golshan; Anita Mirijamdotter; Patrik Elm; Rana Mostaghel; Sandberg Johan; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Digital capability; Business Model Change; Interorganisational collaborations; Co-exploration and Co-exploitation; Informatik; Information Systems;

    Abstract : While IT-enabled innovations continue to disrupt long-lasting industries, emerging concepts and theories seek to explain implications of digitalisation on its value, competition and organisation. Over the past two decades, the notions of digital capability and business model reconfiguration as antecedents of organisational performance have become increasingly influential in the Information Systems literature. 4. 4. Neurospora tetrasperma from Natural Populations : Toward the Population Genomics of a Model Fungus

    Author : Pádraic Corcoran; Hanna Johannesson; Sylvain Glemin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurospora; poulation genetics; genomes; introgression; Evolutionary Genetics; Evolutionär genetik;

    Abstract : The study of DNA sequence variation is a powerful approach to study genome evolution, and to reconstruct evolutionary histories of species. In this thesis, I have studied genetic variation in the fungus Neurospora tetrasperma and other closely related Neurospora species. I have focused on N. READ MORE

  5. 5. Female coloration, egg carotenoids and reproductive success: gobies as a model system

    Author : P. Andreas Svensson; Trond Amundsen; Jonathan Blount; Trondheim NTNU Department of Biology; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Evolutionary Biology; Evolutionsbiologi;

    Abstract : In two-spotted gobies (Gobiusculus flavescens), females develop an orange belly as they approach sexual maturity. Toward the end of the single breeding season, males become rare and females compete for spawnings. Nest-holding males then prefer females with more colourful bellies and this trait has been suggested to act as a female ornament. READ MORE
