21. Potential immunoregulatory role of T and dendritic cells in cancer : Investigations based on transcriptional analysis
Abstract : Cancer is a complex disease with various genetic and epigenetic driving factors. Cancer cells form a favored microenvironment to sustain their uncontrolled behavior leading to abnormal growth. With standard treatment including chemotherapy, relapse risk is high due to the resistance that cancer cells can develop against chemotherapy agents. READ MORE

22. Roller skis' rolling resistance and grip characteristics : influences on physiological and performance measures in cross-country skiers
Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to investigate roller ski characteristics; classical and freestyle roller skis’ rolling resistance coefficients (μR) and classical style roller skis’ static friction coefficients (μS), and to study the influence of different μR and μS on cross-country skiers’ performance and both physiological and biomechanical indices. The aim was also to study differences in skiing economy and efficiency between recreational skiers, female and male junior and senior elite cross-country skiers. READ MORE

23. Studies of the Boundary Behaviour of Functions Related to Partial Differential Equations and Several Complex Variables
Abstract : This thesis consists of a comprehensive summary and six scientific papers dealing with the boundary behaviour of functions related to parabolic partial differential equations and several complex variables.Paper I concerns solutions to non-linear parabolic equations of linear growth. 24. CAR T cells for Immunotherapy of Cancer
Abstract : In recent years, immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer treatment by prolonging survival and even curing patients lacking other available therapies. Besides immune checkpoint inhibitors, one of the major advances is attributed to the success of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy in treating patients with B-cell malignancies. READ MORE

25. Immune deterioration in HIV-1 and HIV-2 infection with a focus on CD8 T cell exhaustion
Abstract : Thanks to the development of antiretroviral treatment (ART), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is now considered a chronic infection rather than the death sentence it used to be. Despite constant expansion and improvement of treatment options, even optimal therapy cannot prevent the impact of HIV on the human immune system. READ MORE
