21. Improved statistical methodology for high-throughput omics data analysis
Abstract : Over the last two decades, the advent of high-throughput omics technology has substantially revolutionized biological and biomedical research. A large volume of omics data has been produced with the rapid development of sequencing techniques. READ MORE

22. Multitemporal Spaceborne Polarimetric SAR Data for Urban Land Cover Mapping
Abstract : Urban represents one of the most dynamic areas in the global change context. To support rational policies for sustainable urban development, remote sensing technologies such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) enjoy increasing popularity for collecting up-to-date and reliable information such as urban land cover/land-use. 23. Computational Modeling of Cancer Progression
Abstract : Cancer is a multi-stage process resulting from accumulation of genetic mutations. Data obtained from assaying a tumor only contains the set of mutations in the tumor and lacks information about their temporal order. Learning the chronological order of the genetic mutations is an important step towards understanding the disease. READ MORE

24. Quantitative genetics of Norway spruce in Sweden
Abstract : Genetic improvement of solid wood and pulp and paper products related wood quality traits are important to increase productivity and value of Norway spruce plantation in Sweden. To incorporate wood quality traits into Norway spruce tree breeding program, genetic parameters of solid wood and fibre traits were investigated in a large Norway spruce population. READ MORE

25. Stochastic Models Involving Second Order Lévy Motions
Abstract : This thesis is based on five papers (A-E) treating estimation methods for unbounded densities, random fields generated by Lévy processes, behavior of Lévy processes at level crossings, and a Markov random field mixtures of multivariate Gaussian fields. In Paper A we propose an estimator of the location parameter for a density that is unbounded at the mode. READ MORE
