  1. 31. Multivariate methods in tablet formulation

    Author : Jon Gabrielsson; Michael Sjöström; Svante Wold; Torbjörn Lundstedt; Marc Brown; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; PCA; statistical experimental design; multivariate design; PLS; excipients; direct compression; tablet formulation; robustness testing; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the application of multivariate methods in a novel approach to the formulation of tablets for direct compression. It begins with a brief historical review, followed by a basic introduction to key aspects of tablet formulation and multivariate data analysis. READ MORE

  2. 32. Shrinkage cracking of steel fibre reinforced self compacting concrete overlays: test methods and theoretical modelling : test methods and theoretical modelling

    Author : Jonas Carlswärd; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Steel fibres are often applied as crack reinforcement in overlays even though methods for the design with respect to crack widths are not yet available. Thus, the intention was for the research to form a basis for future design of overlays with respect to cracks. A main ambition was to give guidance on e.g. READ MORE

  3. 33. Optical Methods for Tympanic Membrane Characterisation : Towards Objective Otoscopy in Otitis Media

    Author : Mikael Sundberg; Tomas Strömberg; Ton van Leeuwen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Optical Methods; Spectroscopy; Surface Curvature; Monte Carlo; Tympanic Membrane; Otitis Media; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Otitis media, which is an upper respiratory tract infection that affect the middle ear, is the second most common disease in childhood, outnumbered in prevalence only by the common cold. Diagnosis of middle ear inflammation is often performed in the primary healthcare where the normal procedure involves anamnesis and physical examination of the tympanic membranes (TM) of the patient, usually be means of otoscopy. 4. 34. On the hypersensitivity syndrome induced by the selective serotonin reuptake inhibiting antidepressant Zimeldine : A clinical and experimental study

    Author : Bengt-O Bengtsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Zimeldine; Norzimeldine; Hypersensitivity syndrome; Serotonin reuptake inhibition; Genetic disposition; Lymphocyte transformation test; Experimental allergic neuritis; Immunopharmacology; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Zimeldine, the first selective neuronal serotonin (5-H1) reuptake inhibitor to be registered as an antidepressant was withdrawn from common use due to an acute flu-like adverse syndrome comprising fever, myalgia and/or arthralgia and signs of disturbed liver function. A few of these patients also developed a peripheral neuropathy, in the most serious form a Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). READ MORE

  5. 35. On the Experimental Determination of Damping of Metals and Calculation of Thermal Stresses in Solidifying Shells

    Author : Jonas Åberg; Hasse Fredriksson; Björn Widell; Michael Vynnycky; Toshihiko Emi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; material damping; measurement methods; calorimetric methods; optical strain gauge measurements; hot cracking; stress in solid shells; ALE; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis explores experimentally and theoretically two different aspects of the properties and behaviour of metals: their ability to damp noise and their susceptibility to crack when solidifying. The first part concerns intrinsic material damping, and is motivated by increased demands from society for reductions in noise emissions. READ MORE
