  1. 1. A first sketch of Computer Aided Ideation : Exploring CAD tools as externalization media in design ideation

    Author : Philip Ekströmer; Renee Wever; Johan Ölvander; Peter Törlind; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Even though Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools have changed the way designers work in most parts of the design process, designers still mostly use pen-and-paper sketching when generating design ideas. Previous studies exploring the use of CAD tools for design ideation have concluded that the tools available at the time did not support reflective conversation, serendipitous interpretation and creativity, making them unsuited for design ideation. 2. 2. Governing the European Asylum System at the Greek Border Islands

    Author : Alexandra Bousiou; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Greek border islands; peripheralization; EU asylum policies; right to seek asylum; ; multilevel governance; externalization of asylum;

    Abstract : This thesis provides an understanding of the governance of the European asylum regime at the Greek border islands from a multi-level governance perspective. Lesbos, Chios, Samos, Kos, and Leros are the islands which, over the period of a year between 2015 and 2016, received 80% of all refugee arrivals to the EU, and were chosen as the loci of the so-called hotspot approach. 3. 3. Mechanisms and mediators of apoptosis : with special reference to hematological disorders

    Author : Bengt Fadeel; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : apoptosis; Bcl-2; caspases; chemotherapy; chronic granulomatous disease; familial hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis; Fas; homology-based modeling; neutrophils; phosphatidylserine; reactive oxygen species;

    Abstract : Life and death are inextricably entwined. Naturally occurring cell death or apoptosis is essential for the of homeostasis and serves to remove extraneous or dangerous cells in a swift and unobtrusive manner. work has demonstrated that such cell death is genetically regulated and transpires according to evolutionarily conserved pathways. 4. 4. Designing for sketching to support concept exploration

    Author : Danwei Tran Luciani; Jonas Lundberg; Jonas Löwgren; Patric Ljung; Anders Ynnerman; Erik Stolterman; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Sketching is a way of exploring early concepts through the act of externalization in a suitable material with the aid of a suitable tool. One could use paper and sketch with a pencil or go digital and sketch with code. What is appropriate to choose depends on the situation and on the skillset of the person who is going to sketch. 5. 5. Molecular mechanisms of cell death and cell clearance

    Author : Katharina Klöditz; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Programmed cell death (PCD) is a naturally occurring event in multicellular organisms. It is part of the development as well as ensuring tissue homeostasis and cellular turnover. READ MORE
